N54 coils and spark plugs.
K, got 103km or 64miles on my 2007 e90.
Want to change all spark plugs and possibly 1 coil pack. Here is my questions: 1) what bosche part number is good to go? Is there a spark plug part number I should be avoiding? Like a manufacturers date, or old part number? 2) if I understand this correctly, all coil parks for the n54 are by BMW only.....like I won't have to worry about aftermarket cheap crap. Is there a update part or not? 3) is programming need to be done when I change out either spark plugs or am I good to go with a straight swap. 4) how to tell if I have an injector problem or not? Thanks in advance. DN |

1. bosch ZGR6STE2, Nothing you should be avoiding in-terms of spark plugs. People use NGK with good feedback. injectors had a recall. 2. im sure they are aftermarket coil packs like bosch, but oem are easy to find. 3. they are straight swaps, only injectors need coding 4. a code usually pops up for injectors. |

Do I torque it to the spec of the car or the spec of the plug.
Cobbs video says 17. Bosche plugs state 20 +-3. Idrift4wd.....would a misfire code be considered an injector failure? Or injector failure has their own code? |

as for the misfire, it could be caused by a faulty injector but most times it is either plugs or coil. I would say replace the plugs and clear your codes, test drive and see if you get the issue again. If you do get a misfire then you can start the troubleshooting process of changing the coils around. If the misfire follows the coil then the coil is bad if the misfire stays in the same cylinder it may be the injector. |

a misfire is really annoying for this car because many things can cause it. wastegates, spark plugs, coilpacks, injectors, fuel pumps, vacuum lines, and more. yea injectors have their own code, but having a misfire will show general misfire code in a cylinder. |

Learn to use either realoem.com or bmwfans to check compatability.
If you use 30 ft pounds torque good luck. BMW recently changed their spec from 17 ft pounds to 20 because of plugs backing out. Whether you use anti-seize or not is up to you. The bright shinney plug threads are the ones that don't require anti-seize. However I use copper anti-seize regardless just in case having had a plug seize in a aluminum cylinder head. Change the plugs in with the engine cold to avoid plug galling... |
