I was just wondering how long other people waited to change their valve cover gasket after they realized it was leaking oil. I'm at about 85k miles right now and it started at about 77-78k I believe... So I've ran it that way for about 7-8k miles so far. I needed to add 1 quart of oil every 1200-1300 miles.
I'll be changing It sometime next weekend and was wondering what tools were needed to complete the job. |

I changed plugs a couple of weeks ago and there was a good amount of oil on plugs 2, 3, 4 and 5. I am due to have mine replaced but figured I might as well just get walnut blasted and knock them both out at once.

Mine just started leaking @ 75k miles, I'll swap it out in March when I get my intake clean.

Just replaced my valve cover as well as gasket and did the walnut blast at the same time. Came home early one day & took the following day off. Took the VCG off put new one on but left the fuel rail off and some other stuff that was kinda in the way of intake manifold, then took intake manifold off and cleaned intake valves. Then I put the intake manifold back on and the rest of what I removed from doing the VCG. Not a bad DIY job saved a bunch of money, I heard VCG is $1000 and $500-$850 for walnust blast. VCG was easy Walnust blast is time consuming. I have 66,000 miles. Oil was leaking into cylider 3 and caused misfires.
