What's the difference between surround and no surround? Im trying to get the 11" HVAC controller on my 08"

The black trim piece that goes around the unit and either has the hole for the lower switch panel or not. I am keeping the one off the second unit I have since it does not have the hole for extra switch panel since I no longer need it
