I wouldn't. the shocks do a lot in regards to ride quality and handling. I'd get OEM sports shocks, or replace them with a performance shock like koni sports, bilstein HD, or maybe even koni FSD.

Ask them if they can get bilstein B4 struts and shocks, they are similar to oem and come in sports and non-sports part numbers. Look on tire rack for part numbers - why not just order them from tire rack.

Monroe are not the same quality as OEM. Get OEM or something better. Bilstein and Sachs have a part that is OEM spec and is cheaper, too.

I'm looking for the best priced OEM equivalent struts too. Did you find anything OP?

I looked at the Bilstein twin tube ones cdgatti recommended on TireRack a couple months ago but couldn't come to a conclusion that they would be equal or not. The price is right on those though. Does anyone have these on their e90?

My case was slightly different. I have a 2011 E90 335d without the sports suspension. I was unhappy with the OEM dampers. I replaced them early on with the Bilstein B6, but they would not work with the sports springs. I think it is maybe the B4, can't remember. The B6 were a great improvement no doubt, but now I am shortly going whole hog and replacing everything underneath almost, so my B6 with about 5K miles will be going on the auction block. In summary, I have been happy the the Bilstein B6. Even took them to the HPDE at Summit Point in September and they performed quite nicely.

This would be a good time to upgrade to something better than OE. Koni and Bilstein are just some of your choices.

Is there better AND cheaper than OE, off the top of your head?

That's a tough question since it has been 5-6 months, but I think I would have to say the B6 are not more harsh over bad roads. I say this because much of the harshness comes from the OEM run-flat tires anyway, and the improved damping of the B6 makes the overall handling and comfort sensation much better overall. At least IMHO.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do feel every road joint and imperfection but it no longer troubles me. Afraid everyone has his own threshold of pain.

If you want OE or OEM...
Think these say sport suspension. I think Sachs was an OE supplier for BMW.

You can get Bilstein HD, they are approximately the same price as OEM units but are better handling. The regular Bilstein sport shock is OE spec.
