2008 E90 335i  [4.50]
took my car to the dealer, apparently my turbos are fine but i have a leaky oil filter housing gasket and leaky valve cover gasket

You will see more smoke when you remove the main and secondary cats. This is normal as the cats don't mask or "dilute" the condensation smoke that you see. The best method to check if you're turbos are in fact on the bubble is to have a buddy follow you, punch the throttle and see if you see a blackish puff of smoke from the pipes.

i had the same issue but went away when i increased the wastegate position on the jb4 g5 ISO >50

maybe gives you a reason to get a JB4

had mine on 80 n it didnt make a difference on the smoke issue but did get rid of the rattle,put it back to 0 as my fuel economy went down with wg position 80.

make sure you guys check your valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets cuz those might be the problems if youre having oil consumption issues. Fixing those are a lot cheaper than getting new turbos and even cheaper if you DIY those
