I have a brand new M Sport Steering wheel (Manual) for sale, the wheel does "NOT" come with trim/airbag/multi control functions, just the bare wheel, it has no signs of use and is in perfect condition. Part no 32307839114

yeah but mine is technically already a sport wheel.. its just an early one, so no thumb grips. But otherwise similar. SO it'd be a small upgrade for me.

Would i be right in assuming that the switches and airbag from my early sport steering wheel will just fit onto this one?

not a straight swap from an SE wheel I'm afraid mate, the shape's different...

mines not an SE wheel though, its a sport wheel with round airbag (look at the pic )

its just mine is an EARLY sport wheel, before they introduced the thumb grips. Otherwise they look identical to me, same buttons, same airbag. But hoping someone can actually confirm this

Correct, its a straight upgrade from an SE Sport wheel but not the standard SE wheel. Yours looks just fine to upgrade and it will make a bigger difference that you think, wheel feels a bit chunkier and much nicer. Many of us have upgraded from the SE Sport wheel to the M Sport wheel and its a great modification.

so my slip ring, buttons, and airbag will all work fine on a bare sport wheel?

i assume so given the looks between the two, but its worth checking.

is this a swap that could be done easilly with on street parking, or would i need to get it into a mates garage to do this?

all your stuff will fit the msport wheel, however, the wheel trim is a slightly different shape, in that it is less curved then the m sport trim. It will fit and will look fine from the front but from the back of the wheel the 'sport' trim will be a bit larger than the wheel, which is fine as you rarely stick your head between the dash and the steering wheel. It's a quick job too, once you've got the hang of popping off the airbag (no pun intended).

yes it fits, but the se cover will overlap the m sport steering wheel from the reverse, it is wider than the wheel. I have done exactly what you are doing.

ah i see what you mean... so the gaps at about 5 and 7 o clock are smaller on the M sport wheel. Meaning the plastic trim on the SE one would be a bit visible from the rear?

not that it matters to me, but i'll look on ebay, might pick up a trim on the cheap

The trim really will be fine, I haven't ever looked behind my wheel so maybe it is a slight mismatch but I have never noticed any problem from the drivers seat and I'm mega fussy.

Just follow the DIY on here and its an easy job. Once you find the slots to pop the airbag its a very quick and easy job to swap all over.

exactly, I have the m sport trim but as mine isn't an m sport I prefer the se trim. In fact, even if i had an m sport I'd prefer a trim without an m sport emblem reminding me i am paying for the extra fuel to drive a bit more plastic around

hehe yeah well id prefer to keep the M sport logo off it too, because my car is a sport pack, rather than M sport. Keen to keep those two items kinda seperate.

That said, my gear knob is an M one lol, so blah!

the guide looks great, so i should be ok doing it myself. Once you get the main bolt off the wheel, is it hard to pull off? i know on some older BMW's you needed steering wheel pullers to get them off

easy to pull off, shouldn't need any other tools just take a quick picture of where the wires plug in, but even without it's pretty straight forward. As I said, the hardest bit is the airbag, but use a longish/thinnish flat headed screw driver and you'll get the hang of it.
