CARB certified air intake?
Are there any carb ok intakes out there for a n54 335i? Recently got the car and will be doing a tune on it and trying to decide what intake to go with it and not having to mess with holding onto the stock and swapping it on for smog would be handy if there are any that aren't terrible or super terribly overpriced.

You're much better off keeping your stock one somewhere handy. You only need to smog it every 2 years I believe.
1. When you need to smog install takes about 5 minutes 2. If you trade your car in, sell it etc picking up a new one is $400-$500 from the dealer or $100+ used

Injen is the only carb legal one. It's priced at 400 or 450 now I think?
If you want inexpensive and easy, go with a pair of BMS dual cone intakes or run to autozone and make one for $30. That'll be the easiest way to swap back to stock for smog if the Injen price is too high for you.

All 2007 - 2008 335i 3.0 6cyl & 2008 135i 3.0 6cyl are excluded from the C.A.R.B Exempt order #. So if you're buying for the exemption keep in mind these years are excluded.

What? CARB site states: "excludes LEV2, SULEV, test group #7BMXV03.0N51 and #8BMXV03.0N51".

I really don't know but it states it on the front pages of the installation instructions & on Injen's website. Something about they're considered to be LEV2, SULEV with engine test groups #'s 7bmxv03.0n51 & 8bmxv03.0n51

LEV2 or LEV II is the name of the emissions program, or standard. LEV is the rating, along with ULEV and SULEV. BMW 335i's meet LEV2 LEV standards. I believe this comment/exclusion was just included on every 1-series/3-series in this group of testing, and is simply stating that the N51 engine (which is a LEV2 SULEV rated system) is excluded. As far as I can tell, these intakes are CARB certified for N54 engines. My take anyways. |

Trust me, make your own XD almost everyone i know made their own and the cops dont even check. they arent on you tough unless you were doing something dumb. personally, id just get a drop in filter. no need for any sort of CARB sticker and anything. if the cop asks, say it was bought from autozone. actually, buy your kit, and buy an autozone pod filter (if it fits) and slap the carb sticker on! or steal one hahahaha jk
