Garage List
2007 BMW 335i  [0.00]
I'd go for a Mondeo Titanium X. If that thing had a N54 engine i'd have probably have bought it

The 140hp Diesel Mondeo is more economical than the Audi A4, don't be fooled into thinking other wise. The Titanium X is loaded with toys, whereas with the Audi/BMW you'll just get some seats and a steering wheel.

The Mondeo and Insignia are huge. Ford and Vauxhall have really increased the size of their cars in the past 10 years. The Mondeo estate is more a match for a 5 series / A6 than a 3 series / A4.

Don't get worried about depreciation either. All cars depreciate. Things like Mondeo's more so, but that means you can buy a hell of a lot more car for your money in the second hand market place, or just spend 3/4 grand less.

The 1.8 petrol is pretty economical and it's practically guaranteed to never break. Don't be fooled into thinking its no bigger than your Mazda. I'd bet they are also bigger than an e91 inside.
I saw an ad in the paper today that reminded me of this thread. Looked it up and here it is. 260 down and 260 per month. I think that's insanely good value.

6,000 miles per year!!

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-car...8181?logcode=p

Bullet proof running gear - not much to go wrong.
6,000 miles a year = a few 100 extra to fuel.
The residuals are pretty strong - unlikely to depreciate significantly.
Modern looking and many still under warranty.

You know it makes sense.

Not just "man maths" neither!!

^ Edit - Hadnt realised it was Cat D but you get the picture. Big petrol engined cars are the way to go..

Don't get me wrong. I doubt many of us on here would want that car for ourselves as it will be about as exciting and interesting as a trip to the inlaws but as an economical, extremely reliable, safe car for the family it's bloody good and it really is HAAAUUUUUGGEEEEEEE! inside.

As a side note. Last Honda I had was an old CRV which I bought for 1k. Ran it for a year, never a single fault, never serviced it. Stuck it on ebay just after Christmas, got 25 enquiries in 24 hours sold it for 1.5k within 48 hours. Bangernomics

How much bigger is this Civic to the previous model? My brother had the TypeR in the previous model (still the spaceship shape..with triangle door handles) and it was far too small.

The FN2 type R was 3 door only so it's a bit like comparing an e90 and e92. The new model Civic is bigger and it's 5 door.
