Anyone run 235/40/18s on their XDrive E90 sedans? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I'm looking at some used winter wheels/tires and they are 235/40/18 tires on 18 x 8 rims. They were previously used on an M3. I'm thinking this will mess up my speedo/odo a bit and maybe even rub?

They are on Sport Edition a7 rims. I don't know the offset yet but I'm assuming they will work since they came off an M3 (or maybe I'm wrong?)

I've run that size tire for over 3 years now with no problems. M3's have more aggressive offsets but if it's a square 18x8 set up, chances are they'll fit

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the rims tonight. They are stamped "ET 20". Is that the offset? Still think they will fit?

Might have just answered my own question. The offset on my stock me 193m 18 x 8 rims is 34. These are 20....guess these wont work?

they will work, but a 235 might be pushing it on the front. I have 235/40/18 et30 up front on an 8.5 and im pretty sure an et20 on an 8 will just 4mm out further than my setup. For the rear, you are fine and could even use a 5mm spacer to match the front.

I think you will be allright seeing the rims are 8" wide. I run 18x8.5 et35 up front on 235/40/18 and have no issues. I was thinking about buying some 10 or 15 mm spacers to bring out the wheels to match my rears which I run 15 mm spacers. By running a 10 or 15 mm spacer out front on my car it would bring my offset out to a et25 or et20. I think it will work for you and give you an aggressive stance. hth

Why don't people just stick with oem sizes?

Well with those offsets and tire sizes there is some extra room to either go wider or spacers or different offsets or all of the above. The trick is which wheels and tires can go how far without rubbing. Ergo questions.

I decided against buying those rims/tires. They would have put my speedo off a bit and I wasn't 100% sure they would fit on my car. I'll just keep shopping for some 18 x 8 rims with a stock 34 mm offset so I'm sure they will fit ( stock tire size as well.)

LOVE the ride, Shoulda done this a LOT sooner

235/40/R18 all around? Sounds sweet man, enjoy them.

I'm planning on getting some 18s for my 328ix soon. Did you get spacers? I think I'm going to get 225/40 for front and 255/35 for back with 12mm spacers. Spacers only in the back.

I have an XI so i went square. Im gonna get spacers and coils asap... prolly go 10 front 15 rear. didnt need spacers cuz my ET i think is 37? not sure

You don't necessarily need to go square because you have an ix.

baris you should consider running 10 mm spacers up front to even up the look so the front wheels don't look sunk in.

Instead of getting spacers for front and rear, should I just bigger/different tires? What would you recommend? Maybe 235/40 for front but keep the rear ones the same?

I decided to go with 18" OEM rims

F: 18x8 with 34mm offset and 225x40 Conti DWS
R: 18x8.5 with 37mm offset and 255x35 Conti DWS

I think I'm going to get 18s. 18x8, ET32. 235/40 front and 265/35 rear. Calculator says 2.1% for front, and 1.7% for rear though, it kinda worries me. Everyone says to keep it close to 1%

Don't worry lots of people run these. I personaly run 235/40/18 all around with no issues on 18x8.5 et 35 wheels. I don't like how the wheels sit in so I run 15mm spacers out back which is the same if I ran offset/ et20. I going to get some 10mm for the front to bring out the wheels a little. My advise would be if you run a square setup by the same offset wheel front and back so you can rotate tires. If your going staggered you can run different offsets front and back. I would buy a 18x8.5 et25 for square, you can always add a small spacer out back if needed to bring out further. If I were to run staggered I would run 18x8.5 et 25 and 18x9.5 et15 or et20 . I think its more important to keep the front to back tire dia. within 1% of each other because of the awd / transfercase.

For a winter setup, in my case, it was what I could find on Craigslist. Got a sweet deal on some 225/50-17 Blizzaks, would have cost me a lot more for new ones in the "correct" size. They're a little taller than 45s but they do fit. Have to run factory wheels though as I have a 335 and most aftermarket 17s don't fit.

I'm leaning towards a square setup with same offsets. It'll save a lot of money, and will allow me to rotate.
