BMW warranty - any good?
Hiya
Anyone any experience with the Mondial BMW warranty? My 06 330i is now protected by it but I've never trusted these before - do they try to wriggle out of all claims like most insurance companies do, or are they honest ![]() |

they are very good... you also don't even need to use BMW for servicing anymore!
which reminds me i need to cancel mine so i don't get charged next month ![]()

what!
need to check! car booked in for oil service
Checked my policy document: "1. When servicing your BMW, failure to comply with the service schedule recommended by BMW may invalidate this warranty. All service and warranty work must be carried out by an Authorised BMW Dealer or BMW Service Authorised Workshop using only Genuine BMW Parts. Your BMW Service Booklet should be stamped, dated and detailed with the correct mileage at the time of service by the servicing dealer." Last edited by BIGBOYQ; 01-31-2013 at 04:29 PM. |

with respect, i honestly believe that is no longer accurate. i rang mondial in Nov because i needed to renew and they confirmed that you can service it anywhere now because the terms have changed.
What is the date of the post on that 'other forum' ?

If you read that bit above again, it states "Please note all vehicle repairs and warranty claims must be completed by an Approved BMW Dealership....." rather than all servicing, vehicle repairs etc.
You can have the car serviced anywhere, provided you use OEM parts. For the sake of a few quid and the potential hassle of proving what you had done, with which bits and by whom, just let BMW service it. That's what I do and I've never had an issue with any Mondial warranty claim. Think I had about £2.5k's worth of work done on the M3 last year. |

Give BMW a call or get an online quote http://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Pages/Home.aspx
Yeah, you can, as long as it was in using OEM parts and to the right intervals etc etc ![]() |

A timely thread. My 2010 520d M Sport Touring warranty is ending this month and just got a quote for extended cover. Currently at 47k, doing 25k a year so £60 per month appears to make sense in a claim situation. However £650 down the swanny if nothing goes wrong, more than my annual car insurance.
Decisions, decisions. The joys of previous company cars and that I never previously had to worry regarding unplanned bills or breakdowns. But managing my finite employer mileage and car contributions is proving so far not enough to cover my costs. Add to this the inclusive servicing runs out in 13k miles which is enough for one more oil change. Brake pad check is 15k miles! Lets hope for a tax man rebate in April for mileage covered! Any further advice welcome |

I renewed my warranty in October & within a couple of weeks my steering lock packed up, common fault apparently! Car booked in with BMW, fault diagnosed & fixed in 5 hrs. Didn't even have to contact Mondial, just paid BMW the £100 policy excess when I picked up the car.
With regards servicing, I contacted Mondial before renewal & they confirmed any VAT approved garage can carry out the servicing as long as it carried out to BMW service schedule using genuine parts, also beware if you modify your car as this may invalidate the warranty. Only downside with the policy & I've never heard it mentioned but it's true is that when the car hits 60000 miles the renewal will almost double! |

I've heard no horror tales about them. One convenient thing, as stated, is that a BMW dealer will handle your warranty claim with no fuss. With other warranty companies, you often have to pay the dealer first and then claim back from the warranty company.
I took the £0 excess option with mine and, sod's law, the first two years on it, I had no claims whatsoever.

Gulp, well it was making a funny juddering from the auto box so it's been looked at today. Initial diagnosis is that it's the box although they are checking the box oil level now. So glad I got the warranty now (although they haven't said whether it's covered or not yet!)

Pulled off my drive on Friday, then twang!!
Snapped coil spring [speed humps I think]. Took by wagon to dealer, dropped off a 5 series M Sport for me to use, turns out the alloy and disc where also damaged. £1,400 worth of damage with no fuss, so glad I have it. |

from my experience i would say go for it...no hassle for us as a customer...in my case, the first was the vacuum pump and the replacement labour happily covered in £100 excess...the next one was the DSC unit failed...they had to replace the control unit and labour again £100 excess....if you consider altogether with hourly labour charge average at a dealership of £125/hour its worth having the same. Am paying £39 a month with £100 excess...the moment you have any issue you can just drive it to any dealership and they themselves will get the work authorised which will help us by not dealing with them or making phone calls...DEalerships on request will provide the sheet of work done with the price only verbally conveyed to you and blanked out with a paper and a photocopy provided to ourselves for record of work done...which is covered for 2yrs warranty for the replaced parts as long as you are keeping this warranty...
All the best

I've only ever had to make one warranty claim but that was £1200 worth of work which I didn't pay a penny for so when it came to renewal time I didn't hesitate. The way I see it, you'll hardly miss £40 a month but you'll definitely miss several thousand pounds if you have pay for a major repair yourself.

SERIOUSLY unimpressed with Haliwell Jones in Chester and their dealings with this case. They've had the car 2 days now without a hire car and yesterday they told me that it puts itself into reverse with the gear lever in neutral, now I'm being asked to drive the car home (which is about 15 miles!) despite them admitting that it's got a gearbox fault! They haven't even submitted a claim to BMW yet I don't think!

OK, to follow up on this for anyone reading later, approval too fit a new BMW gearbox just received, just got to get the parts ordered and booked in. Top marks for the warranty people, no arguing at all!
