Yes posted here and another forum, I bought the kit s/h from a forum member so I only needed the map, Stan at ecotune was very helpful with advice and can supply a map tailored to your requirements, the stainless steel pipe fitted straight on once the dpf was removed and the the remap only take about 10 minutes with the flash device which also can be used to read for any fault codes and clear them too! I can certainly recommend Ecotune from my experience.

How have you found your car since the dpf removal, performance, economy and smoke wise??

Its running very well, performance wise more responsive on the pedal, economy has increased although I cant give any firm figures yet, smoke wise none seen in the mirror when on pedal, if you give it a rev when stationary there is a small puff of soot and then nothing, very clean, the only difference I have noticed it smells a bit diesely at cold start up for a few minutes.
My next job is to remove the egr and swirl flaps.

I thought I read somewhere that you needed 3 things to happen before a regen kicks in.

Certain amount of fuel in tank ( 1/4 or 1/2 tank)
Minimum speed ( 40 mph??)
Minimum temperature ( 75c)
( not sure on exact figures)

Strangely enough I managed to go through this once and not been able to remember how to get to the screen evenr since. i will have another look to see the path -

This is the screen you need to get to and convert the milege in km into miles and this will be when your last regen took place

That's not when it last regenerated. That info is attributed to when the 4CE0 error was recorded. The only way you can see when the last regen took place is in DIS.

No, it's an error to do with your DPF. More than likely it's a bit clogged.

From the info in that error 'Partikelfilter stark beladen' translates to Particle Filter Heavily Loaded.

yet another DPF issue which I am looking for a bit of advice on and slightly different circumstances from other posts, so any tips woulds be greatly appreciated...

E90 330d 2007 99k mileage...

A couple of weeks ago someone tried to steal my car by doing the key coding trick, fortunately/unfortunately they failed and instead left my car with a dead battery and my key unable to start the car. So I took it into a indy specialist garage who recharged the battery and they "realigned" the OBC to my key. great, car seems to drive fine...and everything is working. But since the "key realignment" the DPF warning light has started to appear every time after 10min after I start the car.

The garage have told me there are 3 steps I need to take to get rid of this DPF light...

1) Use JLM DPF cleaner for 2/3 tanks £35 per can...if that doesn't work then
2) Forced regen will need to be done £150...if that doesn't work then...
3) replace DPF £don't know!!

I have started step 1, and to me there seems to be no drop in performance...the car still goes as well it used to (have done 200 m'way miles in the last day or so)!

On the back of that, my question would be...

1) Is there a possibility that the "key realignment" was not done properly hence this DPF warning light cropping up. i.e. there is nothing wrong with the filter, but there is a electronic/computer setup issue that has caused the DPF light to appear.

I think before throwing money at it check the engine is running at the correct temp first as if its running below spec temp it will not re-gen

Thanks for the reply, yes I will check what temp the car is running at. I should be checking the coolant temperature right (hidden menu 07.00) ?

Yep coolant temperature.

It should hit 88-92 within 10-15 minutes steady driving from cold.

thanks all, took the car for a 40 mile drive at a steady 70ish mph. temp was mostly in the 50 - 59 range and once hit 61. By the sound of it, there is definitely an issue with the thermostat, now could that be a computer setup error or will I need new thermostats?

Do you also know the part numbers that I will need to buy and how much they cost? (e90 330d 07 plate)

I'd replace both thermostats just for peace of mind, the pair are about £70 from bmw, the egr thermostat is very easy to change only took me 20 minutes, the main thermostat took about 1/12 to 2 hours as you will have to drain some the coolant out, the bolts are a bit fiddily due to the location but not that difficult if your handy with the spanners!

If it helps I'm sure i've seen a recent write up on changing the main thermostat.

You 100% need both Thermostats. EGR and main.

As above about £70 for the pair.

If you're not sure about doing them yourself go to an Indy. Shouldn't be over £100 really.

My car generally gets to about 78. Have to really try to get it to go any higher. Wonder if I need to do stats. Had anyone actually checked the TIS to see what BMW say the norm shold be? The F11 520d loaner I had yesterday sat at 100 deg rock solid.
