Once I've calibrated the MS-8. Have to take the car back to Dips so he can look into a couple of things. End of Feb should be good to have a sound OFF, hopefully P 5UML will be done by then too!

So more updates:

1. Put on my new M3 steering wheel with DCT paddleshifts and boy has the feel changed! It feels like a new car now haha, amazing feel! Those paddles are so good, I couldn't believe it!!

1a. Going to debadge the car today

2. Picked up my Aero Lip today off Teddy and dropped it straight off to The Custom Cars. That'll go on in March sometime.

2a. Bought my New diffuser and again sent it straight to The Custom Cars

Bad times... Read on..
3. I was in London last night planning to attend a friends birthday and drove in. Half way up my OBC notified me I have a puncture so being RFTs I decided to slowly but surely drive on. Fund a safe place to park up and inspect....... Client see nothing but a full deflated rear driver tyre. Called up AA guys and they sent out a normal van to check the damage... He didn't have a spare tyre so he made some calls... Turned out No-one in London had a 255/30/19 tyre (although it was Saturday night).. So had to get another larger recovery lorry to come to my rescue since the 1st chap couldn't toe it....

...It was too low .. Gt lots of compliments from the guys recovering but still didn't help the fact that my tyre from the inner edge was totally ripped up how in the world did that happen.. Apparently I was driving with that for quite some time.... But it was only yesterday that I felt any weird judder.

Anyways... Since I'm due to put my new wheels on in a month which I'm yet to buy tyres for, I'm just going to source 4 new tyres all round for these 230s - some fails entry level like nankang or so. Reason is this... I'm going to be spending a lot on tyres for new summer alloys and ill be only using the 230 alloys during winters. That too, here and there. For the most part, ill be driving the spare Car at home (Mercedes c class 1998 reg ) since I won't be happy to drive my BMW in the crappy weather with my aero lip lol.

Pics of the steering wheel and other miscellaneous ones to follow later.. Stay tuned..

As promised, pics of the wheel in some orderly fashion..
This is by no means a DIY thread.. just some pics I took along the way. I won't be responsible if you something goes wrong whilst you perform the same.

I used the following link when I did mine, very simply step by step guide! Thanks to the poster of this linky - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...steering+wheel

Bog standard SE Wheel as you can see

Name: photo 11.JPG
Views: 444
Size: 120.4 KB
In order to remove the Airbag module, you need to press that pin / rod you see inwards on both sides, either together or at a time.. this was the hardest part and took about 20mins to to, rest was a breeze! (sorry for pic on it's side!)

Name: photo 10.JPG
Views: 457
Size: 132.3 KB

Airbag module pops out happily. Just be careful to gently pry up those black flat tabs which you see on both of the plugs. Use a flat head scredriver, gently bring them up, they'll open and then you gently lift out up the connectors.

Here, use either a 17mm or 16mm for taking off the old steering wheel and putting on the new M3 wheel. I used 17mm and it worked a treat. When you align the new wheel back on, make a note of the green line dead centre of the screw hole, it seriously helps to put the wheel back on, otherwise you might be there for some time trying to push the wheel and wondering why it's not happening!

So the SE wheel side by side witht he M3 DCT wheel and the two trims..

M3 wheel Trim or the High Gloss Black trim which I bought off Hotcoupe.. called 'The Thingymajig'!

The new wheel with the DCT Paddleshifts

M3 Wheel back on with the gloss black trim. I have sold off the M3 wheel trim and decided to stick with the Gloss Black trim, personal preference!

Ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Anyways hope you like! I certainly do! Just a shame I couldn't really test the paddles out sine my car got a flat tyre

More pics coming.. but it's by far the best Mod I have done and probably will do interior wise. The feel is so much better. More grippy, soft material and unlike the hard shiny material on the SE, this really makes a massive difference in the drive factor / feel. I love it!

Steering wheel looks nice!! Paddles so much better especially in DS mode!

Sad to hear about your puncture but the main thing is you found out and no serious damage done

I'm thinking of debadging too, my last car was and it looks so much better.

Thanks Mo, yes, glad to have foudn out early on than for any damage to happen. Have taken off the wheel ready to drop it off to The Custom Cars Tomorrow to have it treated! After that, I'm just going to leave the car with The Custom Cars for a few weeks / month because I'm just not getting much luck so far this weekend

The next few weeks / month will be the worst but the wait will be SO SO worth it I'm sure! It'll be in for it's last and final makeover including finising off the audio, all new body work and finally the Rims Back to my merc, I guess the merc thought 3 weeks wasn't enough so it wants more!!

Bought some Angel Eye Lights, sorry for poor iPhone quality pics, but aim was to show you the rings.. these are the rings only and they're not at all blurry, it's just the bad pic! Absolutely love the lights and chuffed with them - they look very 'mean' come dusk / dawn and goes hand in hand with the rear number plate LED lights

I've been thinking about a brake upgrade in due course. I know I've only very recently bought and had fitted brand new Brake Discs, Pads and Sensors all round only about 1000 miles ago or even much less.

Considering I've not been driving the 3er for a good month and it's still off road (and probably will be until the finished article in March ish), I may look to sell my brake set up if I can find something more appealing!

I'd like to know from anyone, some better upgrades which won't 'brake' the bank - see what I did there

Anyone got any links to show the various options from a reputable supplier? What size do I need to look for, anything to watch out for?

Any help appreciated and I'll also run a search in case I've missed the obvious.

Sam

bad times with the tire mate.

same thing happened to me like last summer, it totally ruined one of tires.

it happened on the m25 after a drive of 150 miles. i think mine got punctured when i went through one of the service station exits on the M1 (the one where u have to go through a tunnel , it was flooded so i drove through it slowly but got a puncture from something in the water)

at least yours tells when there is a puncture, i have got a e46 coupe.

the tire looked similar to the one above.

realised now why you after a 255/30/19 tire lol

sorry about the essay

Hey Sives,
Well I've gone for Hotcoupes 255/35/19 since they were gratis and only needed for a month or so. I'm really hoping they won't rub, even though I'm lowered on coilovers. I should have enough clearance for a slightly taller tyre profile
The problem would arise if they were a wider tyres i.e 265 etc

Anywho we'll see how I get on for the time being. Worst comes to worst ill order some slightly taller springs from BC racing

Sam

Hey bud, I plan to but once the car is all done and dusted. The majority of the work is done in terms of audio, just need to put the finishing touches. First need to sort out the damn tyres!

Big money Sam,and arguably not worth the outlay unless you intend spending a lot of time on track.

In your position I'd go with upgraded brake hoses, either:

http://www.brake-lines.co.uk/index.p...oduct_id=11063

http://goodridge.brakes-hoses-fittin...-3-series.html

coupled with some Dot 5.1 or Dot 4.1 brake fluid.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-450-brak...tch-fluid.aspx

More than sufficient in terms of better braking response, and considerably cheaper than a BBK.

Thanks Ian, will certainly look into these. What about upgraded calipers? Not tracking the car, just testing the water for whatever's out there. It can never harm to think about better braking system lollll, althought I have a feeling the cost associated with it will put me off, atleast for now.

Fast forward a couple a weeks and I'm back in the game!!

Car's been left jacked up for last two weeks while I've waited to have 1 x Rear Wheel Welded form 2 hairline cracks. Whilst this has been going on, Ian (Hotcoupe) came to rescue yet again (thank you so much and what a legend!) by sending me 2 x 255/35/19 tyres, gratis! I only need them for a few weeks as temporary measure until my summer wheels and tyres come on.

So today, I managed to get both of the Pirelli P Zero tyres onto the OEM wheels and I'm a happy chap! The rear sticks to the ground significantly and noticeably better! I can't believe I didn't change to NRFTs before!!

So now I'm running Front 225/35/19 Bridgestone Poteza RFTs and Rears 255/35/19 (I know they're not exactly the right profile but it's worked a treat touch wood and as temporary measure, why not!?).. Rears stick like anything! I can only imagine how it must feel to have all corners as Non Run Flats!

In addendum, my PBMW Gear + Gaitor arrived today... took best part of half a minute from start to finish.. absolutely love it! Can't see me paying 160 for RRP though!!
