transmission issue ?
for around the last year or so, I have noticed the 2/3 shift set in "d" ,had a slight flare to it. not bad ,so I figured that this was normal during regular driving. I dont drive the car hard very often, and the car only has 44000 miles on it, so I wasn't too worried. Car is an 07' 335i e90 6at. Well today I was checking my oil level through I-Drive and noticed "auto request" as a option to pick in the same section as oil level. I tabbed on it and it showed,DATA TRANSMISSION FAULT,2/5/2013,7:03 A.M.
NO SERVICE REQUIRED RECIEVED. Anybody ever have this happen. Is there an actual trans issue or what ? Thanks |

if you did not get a transmission fault directly from the dash nothing to worry about.

these transmissions are very very good so no worries. only with high torque levels (big turbos) you start having issues.
Why dont you go to BMW and let them check the codes for peace of mind?

The ECU will probably show codes if very serious with in dash error or maybe with BT but not sure since i always check with INPA (but its in german...)

That is part of the condition based service where the car transmits information to the dealer pertaining to upcoming service that may be needed. That data transmission fault just means it didn't successfully send the information. When I had that issue on my car, they had to reprogram the module that controls the device that sends the information. If you are under warranty, take it to the dealer and show them the fault. It should be covered.
