without mentionaing "poke", "stretch", or "air", every single car is set up exactly the same. Lame.
Meaningless post to me as I don't have RS's but ok. The funny thing is, most members on this site aren't into the whole stance thing yet they act like this site is invested with it, which it isn't.

Well, you're not going to like this. Sorry man, not trying to dog you personally. I'm just trying to illustrate how played out and derivative the stance scene is.

Seriously though, if I had a good chance to get some BBS RS, Style 5s, or even those CCW Classics in 18" I would gobble them up in a heartbeat. I'm a sucker for classic styled mesh wheels.

It's just as played out as people putting M3/M6 wheels, but at the same time, people always call these things played out when I straight up never see another car in person that has any of those wheels, albeit very rarely.

Take this for example, searching for E90s with BBS RS's
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=is...OHKozs8gSvtYBo

Some may call it played out, but IMO I think every car with them looks pretty sick.

I still must say that for the record I hate all the stance wannabes ruining the scene, but I love the lowered look and love the look of those wheels regardless of whatever "scene" they belong to.

5 pages down and still not 1 e9x with style 5's. Very few have done it on the e9x platform. Plus your making it sound lke style 5's are the Bmw fanyboy wheel. Your still not getting it. Whatever your entitled to your own opinion

I'm not a fan of a decent portion of the mods I see out there. Stretching is just another. I think it looks "ricey" (or whatever term you want to insert here).

Performance mods, and some of the basic stuff like M-body mods, fine. To each their own, but I think most of the other stuff just looks dumb. Just my opinion though. You're allowed to think it looks awesome, I'm allowed to think the opposite.

Dont get me wrong. I like BBS RS, Type 5, and CCW wheels. But I like them properly fitted with appropriate camber and tires. The "hella flush" is just dumb.

There is nothing wrong with a nicely lowered BMW, and in many cases if you have wide wheels you do have to stretch a bit of tire to fit. On that note, the "stance" guys with illest stickers, roof racks they never use, and cracked oil pans from scraping are still pretty stupid.

Correct fitment is as subjective as style itself. I personally don't see what's wrong with stretched tires given that it's not overdone and is a potential driving hazard.

This thread is funny and lots of people here are hypocrites, no offense but when people post pictures of their E9X that is stanced and has poke everyone is all like "Awesome, nice, great stance, great looking car, I love how your car looks, what's your offset, what's your rim size and tire sizes"

Sorry but I just had to put it out there, but back to the topic. The OP is asking to explain what stretching means since he doesn't get it, he is not asking for an all out war about people's opinions on stretch.

Here's some information about this topic and for those ignorant people saying stretch and poke is "to ricey".

What is stretch?
"Stretch" refers to stretching a narrower tire over a wider wheel, the sidewalls stretch from the lip to the tread.

Why do stretched tires?
The whole thing started in Germany/Belgium, local laws required that the tire tread be within the fender line. Well that doesn't allow one to run wider or lower offset wheels, so they put narrower tires on the wheel to maintain legality.

When you would like to run really wide or low offset wheels and keep the tire tread at the fender.

When you would like to go really low and not rub.

Isn't this unsafe?
There hasn't been any soild evidence that running a stretched tire is anymore dangerous than a regular tire.

By the way stance, stretch, poke, staggered, modding, all this is a lifestyle.
