sub in the trunk?

my friend has an old explorer and got a sub in his trunk and now everyone thinks his car is soo much better then mine (obviously not true) but i need to make up for this so i was wondering if it was possible to put a sub in the trunk of my e90?
thanks for the followups.

I installed 2 10" JL Audio subs and amp in my 325i... I must say, it sounds excellent on the interior, but on the outside you can really tell it wasn't build for it... It rattles like crazy

Have you thought about Dynomat? I know it's kinda expensive but I'd rather spend the dough than hear that nasty trunk rattle

If you get Logic7, the subbies are under the two front seats ... Originally I thought they were actually suspended under the seat, but when I was cleaning the car recently I had the driver's seat way back and saw that is it actually embedded in the floor.

The reason I am posting is to let you know how BMW do it at the factory. i.e. There is probably a slot under the seat where you can fit a subbie under each front seat ... don't ask me about the amp coz I dunno ...

It's dynamat

Here is the link

Go to Products, then Car Audio and what your looking for should be under that section.

i wouldnt do dynamat. personally. i mean, they are a good company. they make a good product. the only problem is you are paying for the name brand of something that no one will ever see. there are 2 or 3 companies that sell the exact same type product, just as good quality, for literally half the price. plus since this is a product designed for no one to ever see. you wont have to worry about people asking you why you didnt use a better name brand or anything.
one is called like roadkill or something. i will find out and repost later.

Um you won't beable to fit any descent sub under the seats. Try installing a single 10" long throw sub in your trunk storage compartment.

if you instal a sub in the trunk, and your headunit stops working, they might give you a hard time. but if you instal a sub in your trunk and your engine explodes, im sure you wont have a problem

didnt mean for that to be rude or anything. honestly. just trying to make it as clear as possible. and im also just speculating. the service guy at the dealership could basically tell you, and do what he wants. it just depends on his attitude and if you wanna fight him and stuff. im sure somewhere, sometime, someone has modded there car, and a completely unrelated problem, and was denied service. just like i had nitrous in my last car, and got a new transmission under warranty. and that was obvioulsy a directly related.

The dynamat is a mat of sorts more like insulation. If you put a sub in your trunk and you get rattling problems the dynamat will help out and I agree with cdheaven on the fact there are some other companies out there that sell the same thing for a lot less but that web site will give you a good idea at what that stuff can do.

Well here. My friends father is actually the owner of dynamat. When my business was based out of Fairfield, OH I fabricated the CES Display for them in 2003, and made the Dynamat declas that come with the product. If you have any questions ask away as I was also a dealer for Dynamat.
