If turbos are dying does it throw a code?

If your turbos are starting to die does your car warn you, or does the car just get slower and slower until it eventually drives like a N/A car?

A lot of people develop a wastegate rattle or turbo siren which to my knowledge do not throw codes, of course when they crap out you should get a limp/engine light. If you're trying to get them replaced by the dealer just complain about these issues and they'll check it out if you're under warranty.

Turbos are extended to 70k or 80k miles I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong

Not sure how true it is but my SA said the first step they take when customer complains about wastegate rattle trying to have turbos replaced is a software update that detunes the motor and fixes most rattle but gives you a pretty boring 335i

This happened to me! I had to have the software update to get the dvd drive to work, but now my car feels like my old 06 Accord

I've had wastegate rattle since day 1 and turbo siren for 3 years / 30k miles ago, I don't think either one is an indicator of failing turbo
