Forgestar F14's - About to make the purchase!

Gents,

After weeks of research, I have narrowed down my new wheel search to Apex, HRE and Forgestar. I really like the Apex Arc 8 and the EC 7's. Light weight, strong and very good price point. HRE has just launched a flow form alternative to their forged line up. looks great but the price is more than BBS forged wheels so I am not to keen on that. Lastly, we have Forgestar F14's. I love the look of this tire. I am really leaning towards 18's because of durability, price and where I live. Has anyone had any experience with Forgestar? I am asking for any reasons why I shouldn't buy these wheels?

Much appreciated.

That's like comparing apples to oranges, if your looking at HRE then you should look at comparable wheels. Lol forgestar is not close to HRE

The reason I mentioned HRE is because they have launched a more cost effective flow form option than their forged wheels. But they have priced these flow formed wheels way out of the flow form market. Have already dropped their MSRP price once. But you already know all this don't you.

You make such a valuable contribution to this forum. Why don't you actually offer something to the conversation? You imply it.

I do know exactly what line your talking about as we'll as the price drop. But you pay for the years of quality and experience they have in the business no matter what they are a great wheel and very well made compared to alot of others out there. Don't get me wrong forgestar and apex are good for the price but they are not HRE. And you would be suprised how many people I help in this forum as I get pms daily for help with wheels and fitment. And as you probably already know I like to throw a jab here and there to make this place interesting I guess you could say. But please go ahead and continue contributing to the community with your well thought out posts.

i heard the forgestar are pretty good.. as stated above.. no where close to HRE. if you do go with forgestar, be prepared to wait a while, I know a few ppl who ordered the wheels and it took them more than twice the quoted time to receive them. but seeing you're in toronto like me i guess you are on winters right now and time shouldnt be too much of a concern for you. You should get them well before its time to put summers back on.

Took me four months to get my wheels. But I love them so much I don't care

That's great to hear. I did read that there was a concern over the load capacity with Forgestar's being below why BMW recommends. There is a direct dealer here in Toronto and they are stating 8 weeks give or take two.

I ordered F14's from SonicTuning a vendor here.
I have 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 in gunmetal with +35 front and read offsets.
The wheels are excellent. The fit and finish was perfect.
The hub bore was spot on and I get absolutely no vibration in the steering wheel at any speed. I'm running Falkan 722 in 235-35/19 and 275-30/19.

It took exactly six weeks from order to tracking number for my wheels.
I couldn't be happier and couldn't recommend Forgetstar and SonicTuning and higher.

I really liked the look of them. However, after some further research I ended up buying a set of forged Volk Performance ME's. the two main issues I had with Forgestar is their unnecessarily long turn around time. I was quoted 10 to 16 weeks. Second was the production and finish quality checks.

I would have to disagree as someone that owns a set.
The finish was excellent.
The fit was perfect and I paid a reasonable price for 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 wheels.

There were other wheels that cost similar money that were either gravity cast or low pressure cast.

YMMV.

Aren't Forgestar cast wheels?

He is talking about the method of casting. Forgestar using a flow forming process identical to BBS (minus there forged series), Enkei and same as HRE's new cast wheels.

It's not quality of a forged wheel but it is significantly stronger than a pressure cast.
