That being said, Stern will make sure the Lakers make the playoffs so once again LA teams don't look stupid burning millions to build up a team of superstars that most of the time amount to nothing.

Somewhat true. If Kobe wasn't playing then Nash would be handling the ball and the pace of the game. Steve Nash was still averaging over 10 assist last season in PHX because they ran their offense through him. Even though PHX was full of scrubs, they were almost able to make the playoff with 8th seed.

Without Kobe in the lineup, they probably will be a playoff team but definitely not a championship contender. You need a closer in the NBA finals and without Kobe you won't win a championship. And the stats I threw out in the beginning of the season still stands. The Lakers usually lose when Kobe scores 30+. Most of the wins the Lakers has is when Kobe scores less than 30.

You guys are dreaming if you think the lakers are better off with Kobe on the bench or not scoring. If metta and jamison could each give 17/19 points a game as they did against phoenix, then maybe, but otherwise you need Kobe to score.

Kobe the assist guy/non-scorer might work from time to time when the other guys hit shots, but it cannot be depended on.

Again Kobe scoring 30pts does not equal the lakers losing. I've said it many times in this thread, but in many of those games, the lakers were out of it early on. If Kobe did not score in many of those games, they would have been blowouts or for sure losses rather than being close at the end.
