Sucks if you're out of warranty, though. I'd suspect a lot of aftermarket parts suppliers have a good stock of the "261" injectors still available, too.
I ordered one of the "261" injectors plus a decoupling element from ECS Tuning this morning as a spare (great price, BTW). They said they still had over 100 available in their US warehouse. If I happen to have more than one go bad / start leaking I guess I'll just bite the bullet and replace all six with the new version. Even if I never use the "261", I'm sure I'll have no problem selling it as 261's become more and more scarce -- not everyone can afford to swap out all six.

They have only new ones, I have problems with 2 and have to buy the newest version but they are on sale now at ECS.

Check on ebay. I needed a cylinder 5 injector and wasn't willing to spend $1200 replacing all 6. I looked on ebay and some guy had a bunch of the older ones brand new. I bought two so I have one for now and the other just in case.

I know. I placed an order after they checked and told me they had a lot of the previous version still in stock at their US warehouse. I then got an e-mail a few days later saying, sorry, we were wrong. I ended up picking up one at Tischer/BMW of Silver Spring (www.getbmwparts.com).

Just got my car back.
New Crank Sensor
New Camshaft cover
New O2 sensors
New Plugs
New Injectors (one failing, they needed to replace all six, per my paperwork)
New fuel pump

No pricing, but looks like about $4K

I wonder if there will be a market for good used 261 injectors.

Very interested in these new injectors. I'm just about to swap mine out I'm beginning to believe these are a big part of my long crank issues.

Same here, it is too bad they just don't replace them under warranty or recall. But I may pony up the cash eventually and just be done with it.

Injectors

Well thats explains why the dealer tried to charge me $370 each. Its a new injector. Not that I will pay that of course. Just looked Tischer and they are 190. Still a chunk of change. I had my replaced at 32k for the recall and those lasted a whopping 18k. They were going to charge 3200 for injector/plugs for guy there getting pump replaced.

This +1

These injectors improve the injector weakspot in relation to e85 usage.
Better filter concept and increased cooling?

Winner....

Our injectors get issues with e85 when they become around 100 degrees celcius and there is e85 residu... so these adjustments seems to target this issue quite a bit...

Rats, I just swapped all my injectors (pre-recall) to the 261 injectors.

So let me get this right, if I have no plans to use E85, I should be all golden with the 261 injectors?

Brought my car in for a couple codes and found out they've replaced all 6 injectors! I dont have the car back yet but was curious as to why they changed all 6...I figured I maybe had one that was bad and couldn't figure it out.

This should be cool!!

Can we expect a better performance that we will actually feel?

Oh man.

Fingers crossed, I don't want to dump a whole bunch of cash into swapping all 6 again. And to rub salt into wound, the price is now double of what it is for the 261.

Where I'm at, I don't have easy access to 261 injectors at all, I'm guessing if I have to replace any one of them in future, I would only find the newer part number.

'

That is significantly less than BMW of Sterling (VA, not the one in CA) quoted me to replace all six.

Has anyone had any luck making a big deal out of having to replace six injectors at an eye-watering cost when one fails to try to get a goodwill repair? I did my homework on my car before I bought it but still ended up with a failed #6 injector 40K miles after they'd all been replaced.

Car is currently running strong with five old and one new injector (I paid to have one replaced) but if there's an issue I'm definitely going to mention to BMW that I shouldn't have to spend several thousand dollars because they couldn't get the design right the first time, could you please help a brother out so I don't start badmouthing BMW to all my friends

Just had all 6 injectors replaced, '079 version(only 3 were bad), at BMW. Along w/ Decoupling elements and spark plugs, oil change and valve cover gasket. Would have run like $4k out the door if it were not under warranty. Car runs fantastic!
