idrive / screen resetting itself, what gives? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

this has happened for the past couple days;

i normally mute the radio before i turn off the car. i start my car in the morning and go to unmute the radio, and click "accept" with the idrive wheel. for some reason the screen resets itself and comes back on a minute or two later. once the screen comes back on, all is well.

is there something going bad or of a system failure?

Are you by chance running the 2012 or 2013 NAV disks that have been downloadable from some torrents listed on some of the Forums?? I tried to use them and had my iDrive reboot while going down the road, had to go back to the 2011 NAV CD, no more reboots or weird behavior.....RDT

Im not using the 2012/13 disks. I am using a 2010 dual layer NAV disc. I'll try to use the stock disc and see if this helps.

hopefully i don't have to replaced the ccc module. grrrrr

mine did that to me a yr ago on oem BMW nav disc. did not happen since then. now running on torrent disc and still good. Knock on wood

Mine did this and eventually I had to get a new CCC unit installed. Does your unit make a popping noise when it resets? Mine did and, apparently, it was the unit shorting out.
