I personally think 30-35% is a good amount. However, it does depend on your interior color. Also, the legal limit would play a big factor in my decision.

In Wpg its 50% for the fronts. I've had 35% on my old Corolla GTS all around and it was a perfect tint. Dark enough that people can't really see in, but not too dark at night that you can't see out your back window. I've got the 50 fronts and 35 for the rest on my e91 and its good, but wish I had the fronts darker.

Always rode around 20% tint on all of my vehicles. Tried 15% tint all around on my E90 couple of months ago. Matches well with my dark Montego Blue paint scheme. Its too sunny/hot in Florida so the darker tint keeps me much cooler. Fl's legal limit on front windows is 27%. Haven't been pulled over yet since many people risk riding around 5% tint.

1. why is this in the AWD forum?

2. I have 35% all around in NJ and never gotten pulled over (front tints illegal in NJ).

3. PITA to parallel park at night since it's dark. I always roll my window down to prevent curbing the wheel.

Other than that, completely satisfied.

I did a legal tint on my 335 - here in VA that means 50 front 35 rear - and had a coworker comment on how it was perfect, not gangsta but just cleaned up the look of the car (it's black.) Can take pics this weekend if you want to see it (sadly, now that it's winter, I'm never at home when it's light out anymore. Damn job.) I'd thought about doing 35 all around for a more consistent look, but the guy at the tint shop convinced me that the diff between 50 and 35 wouldn't be noticeable from outside. I was doing it primarily because black cars look good with tint and also for the heat reduction when parked in the sun.

If you are worried about cops, do 50% on fronts. I have 35% all the way around and it looks perfect, especially with the dark headliner. If you have a lighter interior, you might want to go 20%. Also, you can go 15% in the rear window and 35% all around. Doesn't look as weird as you would think because it is hard to see both parts of the car at the same time.

5% on my back three windows, prefer the darker look and will do so on my E92 as well. I did have 35% on my front two windows as well, was a PITA to see out when driving at night.

If i had to do it again, 5-10% on my back windows and 50% on the fronts.

Thanks for this - I always wondered since my windows are stock 100% tint (lol) and was wondering what to get in spring. I'll prob go 50% front, 25% all-round the rest.

I had 35% on my '06 and I just did 35% on my '09.
in Ohio, fronts can only go to 50% so my car is illegal.
if anyone bothered to pull me over for it.

The '06 had a gray interior. I have a pic somewhere online, I'll dig it up.

here is the '06 with 35% tint. this was right before i got rid of the car in november

I haven't taken a pic of my '09 yet, it has a black interior. i'll take one in the morning if there is no bad weather out.

I have 35% on the sides and 20% on the back and I think it looks pretty good. Most I would do is 20% on the side but i'm happy with the 35%

I have 35 with beige interior. Honestly with the such light interior, my tint looks like dirt on my windows. If i were to do it again i would definitely go darker.

my friend with 35 and black interior, his car looks great it looks as if he has 20% on

I always get 35% all around and get complimented all the time on how it is the perfect shade. Personally, I would love to go darker but not worth getting hassled by cops as I did when I had 20% a few cars back. Also as others have mentioned it all depends on your interior...black interior/exterior 35% will look like 20%.

....I have 15% on my front sides..I'd HATE looking through that while driving especially at night.

OP here's 15-20% (don't remember) up front and 5% in the back.

Sunroof is completely open in this one:

No light coming in:

Sun-shade is open in that one ^

I think it was closed in that one ^

Some light coming in:

Sun-shade was open in that one ^
Next picture is before my drop..

Sun-shade looks like it was closed in that one ^

Anyways..I pull back sun-shade to let more light in if I see a cop and if I have to I roll the windows down. My interior is dove grey so it makes it seem lighter and the amount of light coming in really effects how dark it looks from the outside. Also, being in the inside on a hot summer day with the windows tinted is awesome because it's literally 20 degrees cooler inside.
