I feel you, all it does is rain in Louisiana in the winter. Mud on gloss black is a negative ghost rider.

Damn, I could go a whole year without a wash and my car would still look way cleaner than that. Thank God I live where it doesn't snow.

Just make sure you get a good wax on it before winter. Same thing happens to me. I washed mine today then gave it a quick wax in the garage.

good coat of wax in the fall, routine hand washes at the self wash stalls, you're good to go. it does get plenty crusty though, i commute 21 miles each way on the PA turnpike/rt. 1. gets ugly. i also keep a good coat of poorboy's wheal sealant on the wheels really helps with the brake dust

blackbeast you had RUST on an e90?!

the worse is when you're driving next to a salt truck and all you hear is the salt hitting against your car!

I drove my 335i for three harsh, salty, snowy Calgary winters.

As good as new when I traded it in. Lots of washing & waxing; with a clay and a full polish each spring.

If anything summer here is just as harmful - hail, dust, bug guts, rain/sun cycles (each time all that atmospheric crud is getting baked onto your clear), UV rays, etc.

I know the danger is greater of some idiot driving into us in the winter; but I'd rather that happen to me in a modern safe BMW versus an old clunker. I love cars, but value my own life above a car, which can be easily replaced

No...All you need is to make sure you get it washed regularly.
These cars are designed and made to be driven on roads all season.
Of course it depends on different conditions. But I would never garage my car just to avoid salt.

Meh I have driving my e90 in Michigan for years by now. They use tons of salt here. I don't have any rust yet. Just wash it off when the temps allow. You'll be fine.

The biggest problem in the winter that I have noticed is all road repairs are delayed and the already crap roads get worse. And then you can't see potholes under the snow.
