Canadian E90 Water Pump Failures
Some have suggested on the E90 forum that the highest rate of water pump failure is in hot climates, becasue those temps are hostile to the pump electronics.
How many Canaidan E90 owners have replaced pumps and at what mileage? We can do a non-scientific survery here. How many high mileage E90 Canuck cars are on the original pump? My pump died at 106,000 km after 5 Calgary winters. And, it died in the middle of one of those winters. Hardly a hot climate here, hardly high mileage (it was great to have the overheat indicator come on at 100 km/hr and the car shut down on the highway without warning). |

My N52 waterpump copped out at 120,000KM - replaced that and the t-stat for under $1000 all in.
No big deal.

There is a later version pump (1151763242), for both N54 and N55, introduced 10 months ago, but I have no details on whether it is more robust than 11517588885. The F30 has a completely different electirc coolant pump for the N55. I think that the E90 328i can also use 11517588885, but orginally came with a lower capacity pump - do not have that PN. |
