Stock Exhaust Problem
So, I noticed there was a grinding noise that lasted about 1-2 seconds on start up for about a month and a half, the car is at 27xxx miles so not very "old" at all. I thought maybe it was from cold-starting, I park my car in the garage, but it still gets cold enough when I get to my car around 630 and I hear it every so often when I have to go to lunch or home. Took it in to the dealer and apparently it's coming from the muffler. Yesterday I took it in after the part came in earlier in the week and when I got it back all is well and my MPG and throttle response shot up.
When looking through the service invoice(no cost due to warranty) it stated that the muffler was coming apart from the inside out. Anybody ever have this issue or was there a recall that went out and I simply never got it???

Never heard of a muffler coming apart from the inside, maybe something with the pipes or packing blocking air flow. Now it's free you see the increase MPG and throttle response. I would've just replaced the muffler with something more free-flowing.

Ah, well I am going to do a full-catback Eisenmann exhaust within the next year or so.

What do you mean by the old muffler?

I don't know the exact year, it's probably 3 or 5 years since eisenmann downgraded the sound of the race to sport. I think it was 93db for old race now it's 89db? Something like that. My muffler is 7yrs old, so I have the old one and I have 2011 eisenmann sr mid-pipes. I might sell this whole set up depending on which of my 2 exhaust systems has more dyno gains in spring time.

Does it have the 83mm tips? On GTHaus they still offer the Race.

That's the one I'm aiming for, with the 83mm tips, plan on getting the M-Tech rear before exhaust. Going to focus on body work before dong performance bolt-ons.
