Cobb stage 1 sport and CA Smog Check

Has anyone had a CA smog check done while having the Cobb stage 1 sport map on the car? No other mods - stock exhaust, intercoolers, intake, etc. This is on a 535i BTW.

I did a search and people indicate as long as the car is driven over 50 miles after the AP is installed, the car should pass smog. Is this correct? I just want to make sure as I couldn't find any threads specific to CA's smog check.

Thanks!

Because I also read that uninstalling it would reset the ECU and cause you to have to drive the car for X # of miles or restart the car X # of times first or the car won't pass the OBDII readiness test. This was on different platforms and also in different states so I don't know how relevant this advice would be for a BMW 335/535 in California.

I'm trying to get some real world experience of those who have Cobb installed and got their car to pass CA's smog check and what that entails. Thanks.

You won't be able to get much historic data.
Most of these cars have not had their first smog check.
I have a Cobb and plan to just remove it a couple of weeks before the check when needed.

Makes sense considering new cars don't need a smog check for 6 yrs in CA. Unfortunately, I bought my car from out of state so CA DMV is making me get a smog check even though it's a 2010 that originally came from Cali. Oh well.

I wouldn't think you would have a problem. I passed in Colorado with a Cobb tuned vehicle and passed here in CA with an open source tune.

Uninstalled Cobb, drove around for a couple of days and took car in for smog check which passed with no problems. Probably would have passed with the Cobb installed based on other experiences also, but didn't want to take the chance.

You could probably just change it to the stock map (instead of uninstalling) if you're concerned.
