For 135i E82 it was from center bearing to rubber mount 565mm or to shorten prop by 133mm.

Note 335i Shaft is longer by 100mm

Just a query ....

The other guys with 335i's had shaft lengths between 673-677mm from centre bearing to flange face.

If yours is 565mm and the 335i shaft is 100mm longer then

565 + 100 = 665mm, not in the range 673-677.

I've just made my shaft up to 675mm, hope I haven't messed up!

I would make your own measurements and use as much of the M3 prop as possible and also use the 335i centre bearing.

Mine is complete and is working perfectly. Best upgrade by far but i went a step further and put m3 front hubs and carriers and kept m3 brakes all round

It wasn't a quick job but can be diy if you have the space and a lift

That was my calculation as well and I was worried about it. But works perfect for now. On the other hand I think even +-10mm is possible. Also my car is MT not sure about others.

Thank You Idnan
Well I can tell it feels really different all rear end feels much more planted and stable which I even didn't expect to be. I was testing one wheel on snow and one wheel on tarmac and this thing really did magic it really gives 100% power to higher traction wheel just like in this vid
. Also a tiny shorter final gear from 3.08 to 3.15 feels better more responsive. Just maybe a little increased understeer but maybe I'm just pushing the car more. Again I'm very happy with this mode It transformed the car and now I'm in love again

Guys im contemplating this mod, Im looking at a dct complete rear end to go into my 6mt 335i.

The rear end is sans driveshaft, what are my options for driveshafts?

I read earlier in the thread certain older 5/7 series series shafts can be used?

Although I bought a manual M3 propshaft eventually, I picked up an e38 540i auto shaft and can confirm that it fitted perfectly into the diff.

Is yours all fitted and finished?

I'm becoming tempted by this route.. What do you think the overall cost has been including fitting and fabrication work?

Thanks! Is there a difference in length for an auto/manual 540i shaft?

I have a 335i 6 MT, would I need a 540i MT or A/T shaft (or it doesn't matter as either one has to be modified to suit anyway?)

Also is it worth replacing the flex joint if the driveshaft comes with one, or to buy a new replacement for a E92 M3 or a 540i?

In the garage right now, picking it up tomorrow!

Ah, that reminds me that I haven't booked myself in to get the alignment done.

All fitted and alignment done but....

I'm getting a knocking, clattery sound as I'm pulling away. It is only momentary thing and doesn't occur at any other time - Just when pulling away with a bit more than idle revs.

I don't feel any shaking, or juddering so I was wondering if it is something other than the diff or driveshaft... The heat shield fouling against the bigger driveshaft maybe?

#edit # and now the sounds gone... Fingers crossed!!!

Well I'm now officially bloody broke, I finally bit the bullet and have purchased a E92 M3 complete rear end (sans dampers) and the front hub assembly with rotors calipers etc from a wrecked 2010 M3 with DCT (3:15 ratio which is perfect for my 6MT 335I) with 15000 miles on the odo in the UK.

The vehicle had been torched (so the interior was toast but the drivetrain was OK) no signs of excessive heat (all rubber brake lines etc are fine)

I was only initially going to purchase the rear end, but when it comes time to purchasing coilovers most companies wont do a custom order of Front 335i and Rear M3 (BC being the exception) so I decided to purchase the front hubs so a m3 coilover kit will fit and the front drilled rotors will match the rear now also.

Front end:

I picked up a E38 7 series prop shaft to use:

My question is what else do I need to purchase in terms of bolts nuts washers flex joint etc?

Regarding this comment below is he refferring to this item # 13 in the image below which I will need 6 of?

This is a bit more work as these drive shafts have the bolts "fitted" to the rear joint. One can smack them out with a hammer and then use bolts 26 11 7 526 322 (M10X52). This is the same bolt used on all E60 and E65 models. You will then need to modify your rear half of your shaft to take this joint.

Bugger!

I was looking at the same one, what did you pay for it in the end? I was tempted to put in a low ball offer but cant afford to do it right now.

I'm waiting on the aftermarket driveshaft option to become clearer too...

Although I'm not certain, I don't think the M3 gearbox will work, or it'd be a massive job to do. I have no evidence for this, just a bit of guess work.

The rear subframe will fit no probs.

Is the diff from a manual or dct M3?
