Complete 2.56 HPA Quaife Final Drive for your 335is N54 DCT

Quaife, The Ultimate Differential is now available pre-installed in a 2.56 brand new BMW final drive housing for your 335is N54 DCT at HP Autowerks, Inc.

"The Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing Helical LSD Differential enables a car to accelerate more rapidly and corner faster. How?

Simply by getting the power to the ground.

With an normal open differential, fitted as standard on most cars, much precious power is wasted through wheel spin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip - along the path of least resistance.

The Quaife differential, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and automatically biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel.

In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the unit biases greater power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed.

The Quaife differential also controls loss of traction when the drive wheels are on slippery surfaces such as ice and snow or mud, providing the appropriate biased traction needed to overcome these adverse conditions. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs.

The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential's unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling and steering, and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage, whether on the track or on the street.

The Quaife differential is extremely strong and durable, and since it is gear-operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly and regular replacement. There is no maintenance required to the unit, so you can fit and forget.

The Quaife differential is great for street driving or racing. Racers don't have to put up with locking mechanisms or spools that tear the steering wheel out of their hands when cornering. Because it behaves like an open differential during ordinary driving, street drivers will have trouble telling it's there until pushing the cars towards its limits.

The Quaife differential is proven in everything from SCCA Rallying to drag racing and Formula 1. It provides autocrossers with such an advantage, it has become "required" equipment for a winning effort.

Expand your vehicle's limits with the Quaife ATB Helical LSD Differential!"

The core charge is always in addition the the price of the unit.

Low mileage exchange units are always $2800 + $1000(refundable core)

There is no low mileage unit to be had at this point, only new.

3 reasons why you need a Quaife limited slip diff...

There is little doubt that whilst BMW have endowed this car with superb dynamics, there remain significant margins where performance can be improved. We have co-ordinated all of the necessary equipment and expertise to transform the braking, handling, traction and ride quality, so that the driver is able to fully communicate with the chassis, and truly elevating the dynamics to provide the real ultimate driving experience.

Design:

Perhaps the innovative design of the Quaife ATB differential is what has attracted so many BMW enthusiasts around the world. Unlike regular limited-slip diffs that use wearing clutches (eg. the ones used in BMW M power cars), the Quaife is gear operated and will never wear out. The design enables a smooth, progressive transfer of torque between the rear wheels with no fuss, and applies power to the tarmac with maximum effect. The result is a transformation of performance. In 20 years of tuning BMWs this has to be the most effective tuning element we've ever had to offer, which is why it is the first enhancement we advise to all BMW owners looking to increase performance. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

DTC interference:

In a recent survey to BMW customers who have bought a Quaife differential, we asked what their main reason was for the purchase. To enhance performance was at number 1, which is understandable. But at number 2, the reason was to eradicate that irritating, flashing yellow light. Dynamic traction control (DTC) or 'electronic braking' has limited the new BMWs to quite an extent, which most of you will know. When you put a Quaife limited-slip diff in the car, it almost removes that light completely whilst working in perfect harmony with the BMW's electronic systems. We guess that BMW had prepared them for a limited-slip diff option, but decided to have them as a unique element in the M power BMWs. The Quaife is the ultimate solution, no question.

Performance:

A single tuning element that increases acceleration, cornering speeds, traction, steering and handling to such a degree that customers say it 'completely transforms the car'. This is why we rate it so highly and have invested so much time and money into our Quaife BMW worldwide project. The majority of people are too interested in getting maximum power gains from their engine, not knowing that the BMW's electronics will restrict them. We can offer combinations of a Quaife LSD and engine re-map/anti-rollbars/suspension kits and more, dependant on your preference and what we would advise for your specific BMW. Our experience and expertise have enabled us to create some M Power-matching BMWs over the years, and now we have a new trick up our sleeve in the Quaife limited-slip diff...

Much more reliable and noise free.

You are not changing the gear ratio and even if you do the speed do is not affect as BMW use wheel speed sensor for speed reference not sensor in the transmission or final drive.

A blanket statement does not tell me anything. I'm a numbers guy, since you brought it up...what is the failure rate of Quaife vs Wavetrac? I fully understand the benefits of diffs, I ran a stasis set-up on my Audi's. I really trying to figure out why there is such a price difference. I have not heard about a wavetrac LSD being any more fragile than a Quaife.

In our experience Quaife has one failure in 180+ units sold through us and the failure was actually an installer error(installer left the the bolts holding the case together lose) and zero noise issues when setup properly.

Wavetrac is noisy in one out of five units(could be an installer error and how it was setup), although there hasn't heard any reports of noise lately. There has been two failures that required warranty claims in about 40 units sold.

If you have a 335i with a 6 MT, this is not the correct unit for your application.

Thanks, very helpful. Correct this is not the unit I would need however you are the company I will likely go with. I have a bolted 2007 MT. The product itself should be as reliable no matter the application. Thanks again
