So both 50" plasmas that I have (yes 720p 6+ years old) obviously were built by NASA because they have been moved flat 4 times total and taken home from the store flat as well.

I have 2 50" indestructible plasma tv's for sale. The are $12,000 a piece...I got the mod bug

You have a couple stories where nothing bad happened, good for you. There are also plenty of stories where people ended up with cracked displays

The glass is self supporting and is prone to being damaged through vibrations or flexing due to road conditions. The frame that the display is in isn't designed to withstand that type of pressure. Its just as simple as that.

Especially with some type of ultra thin 50-60 inch display. How much structural integrity do you really think there is?

Bottom line is.. there may be stories where nothing happened but there are also plenty of reasons why it isn't a good idea.

That just apply to Plasma tv's ,LCD can be transported like that.
