Hey Andrew,
Planning on getting this tune over the summer, but debating on using the Simon or a local rep. What is your policy regarding re flashes & can you just re-upload the old one with the Simon tool after the dealer updates your ECU & overwrites or will an ECU scan/email to AA for new tune be needed? The local rep will not re-flash for free or discount a re flash after 60 days so the Simon tool seems worth it right now. Thanks!

A manual 330 made 6 hp more.
As we learn more and more about the 328 ecu I feel we might be able to get another 5-10 hp with the 3 stage installed. But for now we are very happy with the outcome.

Woof... I just read the entire thread, hehehe... I'm convinced. I'll be getting the tune + Simon tool when the weather gets better here in my part of Canuckland. Seriously considering doing the 3-stage manifold too.
I have a couple of questions I didn't see answered: 1. You mention needing a laptop to sue with the Simon tool. Can a desktop PC be used too? I assume it's only for downloading and sending the file after reading the ECU? 2. Here, I can get non-ethanol 91 octane (Shell V-Power), or 10% ethanol 94 octane (Petro-Canada Gold which used to be Sunoco Gold) gas. Which would be the better choice to use with the tune? (Right now, I use Shell V-Power 91 exclusively). 3. Is clearing the adaptations absolutely necessary? If I don't (read: can't), will I still achieve the full potential of the tune? Does this tune disable hill assist on automatic cars Andrew? Any way to do this with a flash or should I check out the coding section to turn it off?
The car is jerky when at slow speed inching in to parking spaces etc. because of the feature where the car delays in releasing the brake... |

Just a reminder to people that even doing this several times, it's still possible to screw it up. Leave the key in the ignition when you turn on the dash to read the car. If you don't, it powers off and you spend 45 minutes reading... nothing. Several times.
Zak didn't laugh at me too much. ![]() Works great now, and there's definitely a difference. Even with a massive brain cramp, the Simon tool is fantastic. Used it originally on my 2006, worked with Andrew when I got the 2009 to reuse it, and just had to use it on the 2009 after it was updated to fix an HVAC issue. Still not looking forward to sourcing (and doing) a SECOND 3 stage swap. ![]() |
