Hi. I had my 335i since new in 2007 (6 years now). I got LSD and b3 suspension as a freshener because I couldn't think what car to get next that was actually better. New car feeling. Wish I had LSD from the beginning but then I wouldn't have had the `new` car |

In for a quick drive in this once done? I'm very tempted but it's a lot of money

Same, i think £2k all in is too much.
My thoughts are to get the M3 diff put in. Someone posted previously in another thread that you'd have to change some other rear parts too?

It all depends on how you view it, you can easily spend £2K on a holiday/TV/HiFi/Laptop etc...if your lucky enough to have the disposable income to afford it the Quaife LSD its fab upgrade, I'm sure the OP will love the way the car feels afterwards
![]() Still buying a E9X M3 works outs far cheaper than modding a 335 in the long term. |

In the long run I would probably do the m3 diff swap once I familiarize myself with what's involved. I heard the m3 diff is a lot better than the quaife... But I am not at all knocking the quaife as it is awesome!

So would it be a similar cost/effort on the 335D? Have you got a link to any threads of this install?

Main issue is the final drive ratio difference. The M3 diff comes in two OEM final drive ratios - Manual is 3.84, DCT is 3.15. Compare this to the 335d fd of 2.81. This means that only the DCT one is remotely feasible.
You'd need to work out what rpms would equate to which speeds, particularly at motorway cruise speeds as higher rpms could be awful to live with. I think divide the rpm at your cruising speed by 2.81 and times by 3.15 to find what rpm the new diff would give you for that speed. Here's the thread regarding M3 diff into a 335i - should be exactly the same procedure. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321625 |

I'll most likely be picking up an OS Giken one this June. At that point I'll have full M3 suspension bits on it too as well as Megan Racing toe arms and Vorshlag camber plates.
The last thing I get is a tune and most likely a Wagner Tuning IC if they ever deliver some bench flow data. |

Well it's fitted. Only shame is the weather is still to crap to see the whole benefit.
In the wet I do get more traction pulling away and when the wheels start to slip, I can actually feel it is both wheels together and power is still being used to accellerate forwards. When pulling away on corners, I can push the car harder without the traction light flashing at me. 2nd gear in the wet hooks up much better and everything gets to the road and the "push" into the seat is awesome On the motorway when flooring it to overtake the car feels much more "planted" even when crossing the white lines. It use to feel a bit twitchy before. So, all in all, I am pleased so far and can wait for some dry weather to really launch it at the traffic light grand prix and see what happens.

Telly Addict - Yes I went for the Quaife and it's not a cheap mod....speak to Birds for a price as it depends on the model of car. This one was a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than wehn I had the 135i done and the VAT is 20% now too. I was lucky the final drive I got in exchange had only done 4000 miles and mine had 29,000 miles

if it's dry at the weekend, I will be able to have a "play" I only do 5 miles to and from work, monday to friday, so haven't had a chance. It's only the weekends I get to clear the cobwebs out !!!
Suspension wise I have the MSport suspension and 19" wheels. Weight wise I liost 25KGs for the old exhaust and replaced it with a straight through, CAT back system with no boxes whatsoever, so I guess it only weighed several KG's at most.
