Service Engine Soon Light - P2063, P2064, P20EE
Just got these three codes on the car. Looks to be DPF and SCR related. Anyone else care to shed some light?

As a follow up to this, I dropped the car off th eother day at the dealer. Got a call yesterday that it was a bad SCR Valve and that they were ordering a new one. In the meantime I am rolling around in an X1 xDrive28i. Not a big fan of the new I4 turbo.

My only gripe with it was the noise in the one I had when you first started it up if the fan was on high. It sounded like a lawnmower on choke. Other than that, it was rather nice, but I personally wouldn't buy it. I found myself liking the new nav screen, the auto-off engine feature, and the various settings (eco pro, sport, etc) but disliking that noise and the steering feel (except maybe in sport mode which felt like maybe it provided a tad more feedback?).

Looking at the pictures, I would NOT take this car back after repair. Who knows what kind of problems will pop-up later due to the damage to frame, rear axel etc. You are SOL after you accept the car.
My advice would be to go talk to the GM, see if you can't get a fair trade-in before-the-accident value on the car and buy a new (to you) car from them. They can look-up similar vehicles around the country and have one shipped to the dealer if they don't have anything you like in inventory. Let them deal with the repaired car with diminished value. Don't let them push this problem onto you. Just my $0.02. Good luck! |

Did they ever get back to you with an estimate of what is "broken" and the plan to fix? |

Here's another suggestion in case you really want to keep the car. Why not ask that the dealer (I am assuming it's a BMW dealer) give you an extended warranty (Gold Plan) or CPO it for 6 years/100k miles? That would help you out in the future in case something pops-up due to the accident plus make the car more desirable at resale.
Right now, it's a windfall for the dealer. They will be doing the repair work and will probably charge the insurance company through the nose making a hefty profit. Meanwhile, you'll end up with a car that's been in a pretty serious accident. Not a fair deal in my opinion. Oh, don't forget to demand a check from the other guys insurance company for the diminished value of the car. Last edited by finnbmw; 03-31-2013 at 09:05 AM. |

No way I'd take the car back either. You're in a bad spot where the car isn't a write-off and the dealer/insurance will be looking to get it fixed.
