Tint Question

The next mod I'm doing is Tint. I'm pretty much settled on getting ceramic, but not quite sure on which brand and what percentage. Most importantly, which vendor does it well for a fair price? I have an AW e90 (with tan interior) and live in SoCal for reference. So what are your guys' specs/opinions/tips on this?? Thanks

Also, I've lurked around the forums and saw that some ppl were saying 2011 e90's weather strip on the side windows may scratch the tint? Any confirmation?

I have the same color combo as you, and have 20% all around, winshield not tinted. It looks perfect during the day, and you can see at night just fine. I can PM you pics if you want tommorow.

Yea, if it isn't raining I will be sure to

Not sure of the exact brand, but it was a high quality ceramic tint. My local shop charged me 180 out the door.

I just have standard 3m tint, but mine got scratched from the weatherstripping. It wasn't awful, maybe a 6-inch vertical hairline scratch near the B-pillar.

I have 335i sedan 2011. Just got windows tinted. The felt is on the outside of window but not inside. Rolled window down and the hard window trim scratched my new tint. I ordered tint protectors for all windows haven't installed it yet. www.tintprotectors.com

Your tint shop should apply mole skin/felt to keep the tint from scratching, common problem w/BMW's.

Here's the kit.

Tint Protector is the real deal.

Some tint shops use the cheap home moleskin that sucks.

Is there a particular reason you want ceramic?

Ceramic does not have metal in in so it won't interfere with your Radar detector.

Ceramic blocks more heat than normal tint

I think ceramic looks better. It does cost about $80 to $100 more though.

I think fastsupra summed it up pretty well. Always thought ceramics was way better than its metal counter part for tinting

Hey E90Company, would you mind sending me pics of your tint? Also who did the tinting?

I'm looking to tint my car very soon and I'd feel better going to a place recommended by someone in my area.

It is better but you MUST have the Tint Protector felt installed first or your gazillion dollar ceramic tint will go to crap fast.
