Cool! How reliable has the car been at those high mileages? Any major repairs or preventative maintenance that you have done?

I plan to keep my 07 335i until at least 100k, and only have about 55k now.

E90 330i. Died at 92k. At least I was pulling into my garage when it happened. Better than being stranded like some folks

My thermostat is starting to go now (failing open every 4-5 days) so I'm just going to proactively replace the pump too when I get the new turbos installed in a few weeks.

I have compiled initial statistics based on 303 responses so far.

This gives the failure probability and the +/- 95% confidence intervals for that failure rate. Obviously, we need more data points to get more confidence, especially at higher mileages.

Plot of estimated failure rate during specific mileage intervals:

Plot of estimated failure rate before a specific mileage (perhaps more interesting to some of us):

Not much change from the last update...

Car has been pretty good for the most part. I had the fuel pump replaced sometime at around 50k I believe. 3 big things have happened recently prior to my CPO warranty expiring at 100k.

1) I was complaining about a rough idle (I think it was around 80k miles) and upon further investigation, the valve cover gasket was leaking. So they replaced it.
2) I took the car in for normal service somewhere around 90k miles. They mentioned that my bushings needed replacing, (800 bucks) but also noticed that my sub-frame had been bumping into my alternator causing it to take chunks out of the belt. There is a service bulletin out on the sub-frame ... I was lucky and BMW picked up the tab on replacing the sub-frame, the new one is soo different.
3) At apx 102k miles my thermostat went into stuck open mode, so I had my thermostat replaced.

I have had some fuel injectors replaced over time under warranty as well .. but outside of that. Car has been running great, I changed the rotors/pads at apx 95k miles. Not bad having 95k on the stock brake pads Also, the clutch is still feeling great ...

I take the car into for its normal service at my local dealership.

Mine died last spring at 50k. They replaced the pump, not the thermostat, now the car is in the dealer for the stat, battery cable recall and due to that dreaded turbo siren, replacing the turbos. Been in a '13 F30 for a week, hateful.

I need to change my vote from still working 90-105k to failed 90-105k. Just had it replaced 1800 miles out of CPO warranty and $$$$ later

08 335i with 78000km (48k miles), fan went on full speed last sat. Stop driving it until make a appointment and drop it off to the dealer today. On my way to the dealer, yellow light on, even I was drove in low speed, the red light still on after drove it for 5 min. Pull over stop the car then wait for 10 min, start it again. It still with yellow light then I drove ~20km/hr to the dealer. I am worry will the engine damage with driving with yellow light on !

I appreciate the OP's desire to try and provide an analysis to the issue of water pump failure but given the limitations of the sample the data is really not of much use. Not to jinx myself but I have a 06 330i with 162,000 miles on the original water pump and thermostat. I have read for the past several years posts about water pump failures which have led me to have a heightened level of concern but when you think about it folks don't go on to a forum and post when their water pump does not fail. For that reason any of the failures we see on these boards tend to give a disproportionate view of how reliable or unreliable a component is. Having said that one would not expect to have a water pump failure on any modern car within the first couple hundred thousand miles. Both the HPFP for the 335i's and the water pumps on the rest of the E90's have unacceptable levels of failures in my mind. I hope BMW gets both of these issues resolved going forward.

Mine failed a couple of weeks ago at right around 70K. Bought the items and was going to DIY, but indy shop only wanted $240 for labor so had them do it. Total $800.

106,002 miles. Nearly all highway and got the dreaded yellow then red water light. Then limp mode and zero power.

Sitting on the side of the highway now waiting on a tow home.
