Exhaust Question

So I was checking out the UK section when i stubbled upon this.

From what I understand (I could be wrong) this guy did straight pipes from his cat and he is getting a nice exhaust tone.

Is our US spec exhaust different from them? Or would we get the same results by doing this?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I am eager to get some exhaust note from this car.

I guess this answers my question (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=18)

I wonder though would my sound improve slightly?

Just as a note to this. Next week I am having my SCR removed and the complete DEF portion of the exhaust removed via tuning. I am also DPF free so this should result in a slight change in the output sound. I'm guessing it will just be more "whistle".

I am also hoping that without the SCR, my EGT's will be a little lower and we can push a little more boost.

Jarek @ JR Auto in Oakville is doing it.

Will keep you all posted.

Is this the shop that offers the option of keeping the exterior of the DPF for future visual inspections? I really like that idea...

That is exactly it. My DPF enclosure is still there but the inside of it has been hollowed out and a pipe welded within. Any of the weld marks are tight up against the engine so you would have to take the DPF off the car to know anything has changed...

Excellent! Please do share as you get this done. I'm probably too far away to have this done at your shop, but I'm really interested in the concept for after the warranty lapses...although I guess this would impact an extended warranty.

Hi Guys,

I'm leaving it for a weeks as I am out of the country on business.
I will be picking it up between the 15-17th of April.
I will let you know as I get a little closer and am able to pick a day.

GBD - I'd love to drive your car so maybe we can make a meeting of it.

G.
