This is part of a recall that may be US vehicles only: SI B13 04 12 (Program Control Unit), for M57Y engines with production dates Nov 2009 - Jul 2012. I am having it done in a week or so. It updates several modules.

I second that. What is this torque limitation thing?! I just had this done to my car. I hope it didn't reduce power.

My mpgs have pretty much remained the same. Before I averaged 31... Now it's 31.

I am supposedly having this done on 5 April. Since I have kept very good tank-by-tank records to date I will try to post my observations.

I just had SI B13 04 12 done with version 2.48.2. Frankly I haven't noticed anything different. At first I was looking for smoother shifting like some reported, but I haven't detected much. As far as mileage, it may go down the next couple of tanks, but not because of this recall; it will be because of me hammering it all the time with the new suspension and LSD. As far as losing torque, frankly it does not appear to have lost anything, but again, it could be that LSD is compensating. OK, over and out on this thread for me unless I detect something later.

Soft update

Update of engine (DDE), gearbox (EGS) and CAS took me like 30 min or so and my car went to sleep mode.
An hour ago I had to drop off something and since my last few days very really hectic I completely forgot about this new update.

After only few miles I had big simile on my face. Gearbox works flawlessly, gears change so smoothly. It is hard for me to say about the benefits from the engine update because 335d always pulls like crazy but gearbox update was noticeable.

Anyone has done this or notice some difference?

My last update was done in July, 2012 with 2.46.3 data (I Stufe E89X-12-03-502).

PS.
If someone wants to do this update, I can do it remotely, please send me PM.
Hi Marius
I wonder if you could do it remotely or directly in Warsaw.
I am a complete newbie in these updates - can you help me somehow.

I just wanted to update everyone that I had this update done last month and it is MUCH better than what I had. The "clutch slip feel" that I had before is reduced to an acceptable level.

If you get it done, I think you'll be happy!

I had my tranny reflashed last year in October or November due to an annoying rough shift from 2nd gear to 3rd. At times when the engine was still cold there was a sound going along with the rough shift.

I was told by the dealer that somehow the TCU got a lot of error codes in and the gears would not align properly.
After they reflashed it while driving in "D" the shifts are very smooth. Only in "DS" it is a little rough still.

I really don't know what software version I got.

I have exactly the same issue. However, BMW Spain did a diagnostics in (late) December 2013 and told me that no updates were available.

Anyone in Europe who has had this done to their car and can confirm that the gearbox is smoother?

There are no "gears to align" all gears are in place and fluid pressure activates/deactivates clutch packs for ranges and brakes.. Make some things turn and other things stop.. So anyway every spline or gear is engaged with it's meshing point during transmission assembly..so 2nd to 3rd shift your forward clutch remains engaged and it disengages the 'intermediate' clutch while engaging the 'direct' clutch.. The computer flash fixed timing issues with this process.. You want everything to happen at the right times and on this transmission the TCU does this through the solenoids in the 'mechatronics' unit which carries out the fluid functions

You are hinting at having information others, including me, are looking for.
Anything you care to share? I have been looking for a hydraulic schematic for the 'mechatronics' valve body, clutch/band engage/disengage for each gear, electric TCU schematic, internet resources - Thank you in advance.

My knowledge of this isn't internet based.. So far, the self taught experience works for me on all sorts of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics. As well as college and factory schooling for heavy equipment and farm equipment .. Heavy duty diesel application. I'm working on the transmission in my 2011 335d. Should have a finished product in a couple weeks

Finished product? Are you saying a product offering or just that your transmission will be fixed?

I was thinking about having a gearbox oil change and flush, but might look into this first.
