Air Pressure at the Track

Just curious, what kind of air pressure are you running at the track?

Please state tire size, tire make/model, air pressure, and whether that measurement is taken while the tire is hot or cold. Include outside temp if you like.

You're opening a whole new can of worms...Tire pressure is like ssholes, everyone's got their own favorite.

I shoot for 36psi "hot" as measured in paddocks immediately after 1 cool-down lap. Should translate to ~37-38psi true hot. Nitto NT-01 245/40/18F 275/35/18R.

(* My typical interpretation of a "cool-down" lap involves driving a lap without engaging the brakes but still corner at max speed through turns)

I do about the same as Hack except I target 35psi hot, and I corner about 75% on the cool down lap. I also run NT01's.

Your particular pressure is going to vary based on the type of tires you use, your driving style, and your desired car balance (you can tweak the balance a bit by running slightly higher front/rear pressure).

I target about 40psi hot. Yokohama Neova AD08, 255/35/18 all around.

For autox, I stick with 45psi hot. Same tires.

32 cold and 37 hot is my goal.

auto-x pressures are totally different than road racing.

Depends on the weather. I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my 2011 328 wagon. For 2 - 3 mile track event, in cold rain, 34 all around. With bright sun, 32 all around. Those are cold readings.

This. Depends on tire compound, car weight, suspension, camber, too many variables to try "one pressure fills all".

That said, COLD readings are worthless. Any pressure you measure as a reference needs to be hot, the sooner after the car pits, the better. Hot readings are the only way to accurately know what the tire is doing when on track.
