oopss

the silicone spray works for only 2 days, after that the squeaks/creaks started again. Probably need to change to gummi pfledge after this. Turns out, in the manual it does say do not use silicone spray...

Gummi Pfledge

The two bottles I ordered just showed up. $8.79 CDN each. I'll try them out but I'm not to sure that I will know for sure until next fall/winter. I'll let you know.

not 100%

I bought 'rubbercare', a BMW part sold by BMW dealer and the bottle doesn't look like the Gummi Pfledge in the picture above. It did improve the problem up to I'd say 80-90% to date . However, there is still some rattling sound inside the door trim... probably a bolt loose, not a rubber ageing problem?

recurring

It seems, the problem was solved temporarily by the rubber care spray. After 10 days the problem recurs.

rain helps

u know what, now that it rains very often, the squeaks/rattles form the window/door is greatly diminished! It's almost gone I'd say! We should lubricate the outer side of the rubber strips then! All the rain does is wet the outer part of the rubber seals but we tend to normally lubricate the inner side of the seals. learning from this rain experience, maybe we should try lubricate the inner and outer side of the seals as well?

Yes you need to rehydrate the rubber. What happens to dry condoms?

I think I'm experiencing something similar, but not sure. Is the issue here an actual rattling sound or is it more of a rubbing/creaking sound? Seems like anytime I go over a bump I hear this weird sound (like rubber rubbing on rubber). I have tints on the car, and the sound almost does sound like rubber rubbing on rubber or plastic or something. And I have noticed that its more noticeable in the backseat. Its driving me crazy though. Can anyone confirm the actual sound being made? Thanks!

I had the door rattle (on both doors). The dealer replaced the seals and even the door latches (inside the door) but it did not fix the problem. I wrapped black electrical tape around the door latch hook on the body. The sound completely went away after that.

Hmmmmm... That sounds more like a rattling issue and not this rubbing/creaking issue that I'm hearing. Glad that fixed your problem though.

The interior of my doors squeeked when the car shifted, so i asked the BMW tech when i had a visit. They use and recommend Static Guard (http://www.amazon.com/Static-Guard-C.../dp/B0013IRBG4). Ive been using it whenever I hear a creak and it works great. Just spray it on the rubber sill of the outer edge inside the door.

Thanks for bumping this...I have a similar issue. Gummi should be here in a few days so I hope it does the trick.

another suggestion is white lithium grease (tube) . wipe excess or it leaves white-ish film, but works well and most auto parts stores have it

I had a little bit of creaking from the rear doors and read about gummi pledge so gave it a try. Creaking went away. I was impressed, so used it on all the rubber seals. Everything was good.

4 or 6 months later, major creaking (winter). I put more gummi pledge on, no improvement. It got warmer, but still a lot of creaking. MUCH worse than before I used gummi pledge. Tried even more gummi pledge, still a crap ton of creaking noise. Read more about it and how BMW stopped using it and recommends not to use it.

So I got a rag, soaked it in soapy water and wiped down all the rubber seals to get gummi pledge off. Zero creaking noise after that. I just it did it today, so who knows how long that will last.

With gummi pledge, I was just adding it on. I didn't go through cleaning the seals first or anything. I think the build up of anything on the seals probably just makes things worse. Probably best to throughly scrub/wipe the seals with mild soapy water (I used palmolive) and then apply the gummi pledge or maybe no gummi pledge at all.

Edit: lasted 1 day before creaking returned full force. Ordered Zymol Seal. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003AN...3869396&sr=8-1
