I have a lifter that keeps getting stuck.

When the engine is warm one of my lifters is getting stuck. I paid for a new valve cover gasket not 3 months ago and is now money down the drain...

I noticed it when I put the cobb on the car. It shows its head but goes away > 900rpm.

It can sound like a spun bearing or warn crank shaft bearing but its actually on the top end.

Now I have to see how it can be repaired. Someone told me to try Mystery oil before planning to take apart the top end.

Today I drove 150 miles with no lifter slap. Odd.

How do you know a lifter is stuck and it is not something else? First I have read about a lifter issue on n54's.

There is a ticking noise that is quite common (and normal) on these cars - and I suppose it does sound a bit like a lifter tapping. Though it usually only ticks at idle.

Does it sound that loud and that deep of a knock? Like a diesel engine almost?

Or is it a faster, lighter ticking noise that goes away when you rev the engine?

sounds like a loud knocking sound. goes away when you lightly rev it. Sounds gone now.
