Question On Carbon Fiber

Sorry if this has been asked many times but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm thinking about getting some carbon fiber parts for my car and I've read something about carbon fiber dulls or yellows over time or bubbles in direct sunlight. Is this correct?

Will OEM carbon fiber parts from BMW have this same effect?

Cheap carbon fiber parts will. I wax my carbon fiber parts just like any other part of the car with paint. I know people who part there m3s in direct sunlight for the last 5 years day and night and the roof still look brand new.

Cheap Clear Coating is what yellows over time - quality CF parts such as OEM have a high quality UV Resistant Clear Coating. I have never seen OEM CF yellow or bubble...

And I would hope that the high end aftermarket CF vendors such as Vorsteiner, etc, also use the same quality clear - especially at the prices they charge - yes, as always, you get what you pay for

no matter what CF I get I always get my paint guy to re clear coat it. Especially if its a front lip or hood, he uses a different clear coat and to help with rock chips or what not.
