Getting windshield tinted Tommorrow

I'm getting my windshield tinted Tommorrow, I can't decide between 35% and 50%. I'm thinking of going with 35%.... right now I have 5% on the very back window and 35% around. Any of you guys have your windshields tinted?, post some pics please!

Seriously though OP, have you checked into this? Actually spoken to an installer?

I did "I think it was" 80% or so a few years ago when I was living in Tampa and it made a nice difference in with the heat soak whan parked outside in the sun, but 50% is a stretch and if an installer does 35% on the windshield it means that the dude wants you dead.

Think about backing up at night with just 15% on the side windows, think about how useless your mirrors become, now imagine that on the windshield... Bad Ju Ju.

If you stay in the city, you should be fine with 35% since you have 35% all around. My buddy has 5% all around with 20% windshield and it is pretty much useless with no street lights, he literally had to stick his head out to drive around the country when we went camping haha. I would go with 50%, it gets rid of the glare and makes it dark enough to see you in the car.

I would do more than 50. You won't see shit at night without good street lights

I did 50% on mine, I can see fine at night. I have 35% on the sides. But I definitely wouldn't go darker than 50% on the windshield. You won't be able to see anything

I've had my windshield tinted since Ive owned the car. I've got huper optic ceramic all around. My only suggestion would to to not cheap not on dyed tint and go with ceramic. I've got something around 70% on my windshield and 35% around the rest. You can't tell its tinted and the UV protection is great.

Been running 35% on my windshields the past 6 yrs.... No issues and surprisingly I've only be stopped for my side windows 5%

Now that I've been running 20% on the sides and 35% on the windshield.. No issues

whoever tints their windshield 35% or more, should first try driving around with their eyes closed.

There's a guy in my building with 20% on his white RS5... It looks clean but noticeably dark. Draws too much attention for me. With windows up overcast and sunroof closed, 35% looks pretty dark. If you have a light interior it's not to bad

Wish you could upload pics from the App, but anyway for anyone else who wanted to see...

the 1st pic (top)... cream interior 5% tint on sides 35% windshield... got stopped in MD my 3rd day here... went to 35% on the sides and the results are the bottom half of the 1st pic... I ended it dropping down to 20% on the sides and it was too my likings...

2nd pic... new car, red interior.... went 20% all around with 35% on the front...
same as my old set up... its its decent.... looks even better during overcast as mentioned before. I have a sticker in the bottom corner to kinda give the windshield some contrast. no issues...

I end up wondering though what happens if you are in an accident at night, and someone ANYONE notices that the windshield is tinted... Gotta think it's going to go poorly for you in court, and you know you're going to end up in court.

Not Saying anyone is bad or anything, I'm just old enough to worry about this sorta shit. Curious how the law reads in Washington. Windshield wise I'm just looking for some glare and UV protection, not actual tint. I also didn't like the optical quality on the windshield with the F1 pinnacle.

Dude, go 50%. Even at 50% you will have slight troubles at night when it's raining. 35% is borderline dangerous in my opinion.

No, it is not legal to tint the windshield at all in IL, except for the top 6 inches. If you do it you will get ticketed, especially if you drive in Chicago. Here are the rules: http://chicago-window-tinting.com/Il...w-tint-law.php Also be aware that if you drive in Chicago they have even stricter rules than the state, and many people have gotten tickets for perfectly legal tints that violate the city ordinance. I don't understand how a city ordinance can trump state law, but the Rahmfather needs the cash and so it goes on.

5%-30% is just stupid. Plain and simple. It's like driving blindfolded.

35% percent is asking for trouble. My buddy did 35% on his e46 vert and when he couldn't see at night he had to sit up high to see over his windshield! That lasted for about a week until he got pulled over and took it off.

50% would be the LEAST i would do. I would go with 70-80%. Especially if you live in an area with barely any streetlights. You'll be straining your eyes all of the times trying to see.

I have 35% on everything but my windshield and I still have some trouble seeing at night - I think any tint on the windshield is foolish. I get you want the car to look great, but don't compromise needed safety to do so.
