I'm assuming the sensor is a DEI 504D which is available fairly easily and inexpensively online.

I know I've seen a DIY before on this but I can't seem to find it now.

Casper, since you've sold your kit now, would you mind sharing with us the instructions for adding the shock sensor? I probably ought to add it to my installation as well just for insurance, I seem to spend a lot of time in a quasi-shady area.

Edit: finally found it

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45815

doesn't include the nice pnp wiring harness, but if you're not afraid of a soldering iron the info is there.

I think I'm going to get one now...

Edit: there is a link to the pnp harness directions a ways down in the thread

Thanks for confirming Casper, hope you don't think I was trying to say you were gouging by my comment, I just reread it and it seems that it could be taken that way but I didn't mean it like that at all... the shock sensor is cheap but not having to source the parts for the pnp harness and then assemble and test it is worth it.

One question - if that is the way your shock sensor was installed, does it get disabled if you disable the motion sensor by hitting the lock button twice? I've seen conflicting info; what I want to avoid is the inadvertent setting off of the alarm by getting something out of the trunk while the car is locked.

Turns out to break even about after ordering the parts since you have to order in certain amounts. Didn't take it as that. Plus after all parts and time to make it, it is easier to buy one lol.

My pup set it off when I had him in the car but disabled the motion detector.
Hope that helps.
