I've been super busy with school lately, but I did mange to get the bushings and ARB installed a few weekends ago. The tool worked perfectly but I managed to destroy two thrust bearings so by the end the threads on my rod were shot. I had 5 more feet of rod if I needed it though haha. I'll try to get some pictures posted soon, and maybe do a DIY write-up if I can find time.

make sure you use hand tools only.

Our prototype tool is still in use to this date on its third rod and the rest are all original. And we do a couple of these installs a week for a couple of years already.

Yeah definitely only hand tools only, which is how I did it. I was probably less careful than I should have been, since I knew I had 5 more feet if I needed it. For example, if I got impatient and wanted to stop it from spinning, I would hold it near the bottom with a vise grip. Obviously that's gonna wreck the threads haha.

I was able to do M3 subframe bushings with just this tool:

All the parts above were from Home Depot (local hardware store).

2 people, 3 jacks, along with a lot of time enabled me to get it done with just lowering the subframe without having to disconnect the brake lines nor exhaust mounts.

Well I would imagine the second and third car become pretty easy once you've got a good technique down. I agree, its really not all that hard to do though. Would've been nice to have the hoist I have now though.
