Sunday detailing results

All done by hand, but now seriously considering a Porter Cable machine.

Used:

- Autoglym car shampoo
- A new blue clay bar I got from a friend
- Blackfire Glass Enhancing Polish
- Autoglym EGP on trunk lid, roof and hood
- Collinite 915 wax all over
- Chemical Guys wheel guard
- Autoglym tire dressing

Looks OK, but I'm seeing holograms on the hood, and not entirely sure why. Read elsewhere that you can't really cause holograms by hand, but I'm totally new at this so have no idea.

Looks good. You windshield really could use some claying and polishing too. I would pick up a dual action polisher from either Porter Cable or Griots Garage with some pads if you are going to start polishing.

+1

We personally use the Porter Cable at the shop.

You can cause holograms from the washing process. How are you washing the car? What method are you using? And what materials are you using to wash the car?

Thanks for the replies. I think I will eventually invest in a PC. We have two black cars (WHY?!?!) so it may be a worthy investment.

As for washing, I wash with a pretty high quality mitt (but not lamb) and wash in straight lines with hardly any pressure.

And Otruba, you're quite right: windshield does need attention. So does the sunroof.

Update on the windshield. Out of curiosity, I tried a small area with a clay bar and some QD and it worked a treat.

I'll give it a full treatment this weekend.

get zanio window polish for glass. it will remove anything from glass.

Claying is not that hard to do, work in the shade and go slow, panel to panel.

a 2nd layer of wax will help fill in and hide the swirls. black cars are a pain, get use to it. they look great when clean but thats about it.
