I ran my 328xi at the Summit Point this weekend. Like rheemix I don't have any added cooling mods. I noticed on day 1 of the weekend, on the third set of runs I had some power loss I assume from the oil temps getting high. No other problems during the 7 set of runs I had throughout the weekend.

Tires will help alot. Do you have sport suspension?

I have noticed, that even the NA engines on the E9X goes into limp mode. Obviously, since the force induction process naturally generates far more heat than NA engines, 335s tend to go limp due to heat relatively quick. But I have had students in 325s, 330s, and 328s all go into limp mode on very hot days here in Southern California. Especially the more advanced students.

It's just that instead of lap 3 by session 2, it's usually near the end of the day, or 2 laps before checker. And most were able to still enjoy their day or weekend by shifting at a lower RPM manually.

By the way, there are literally HUNDREDS of sensors and components on the E9X that can potentially trigger a fault code that results in limp home mode. Brakes. Coolant. Oil. VANOS sensors. Transmission. You name it.

Frankly whoever mentioned first to just get a dedicated track car that you can potentially write off hit the nail right on the head. Like this.

Then why do you have $3,000 worth of suspension mods on your car?

Yes. Tires make all the difference...and aero, of course, but I won't go that far with this car...plus, it barely goes fast enough to necessitate the extra downforce

I know in the automatics coolant is run through the transimision as well and tends to heat it up also cause the oil to heat up. Try doing a coolant flush run 50/50 water to coolant if not more water and 2 bottles of water wetter. also you can try the bms thermostat delete this should keep the oil temps down about 20 degrees lower
