the impeller was chewed up on the front turbo. they said that was a sign that the car ha been worked on outside BMW presumably because the intake had been open. it does look all chewed up but ironically the car was still making full boost. They hypothesized either the intake came off where the pipe from the F MIC and a rock or something metal got in there and chewed up the turbo. I literally have no idea what happened I would think it were making this up if they hadn't showed me the turbo. anyway. because it looked like not a " manufacturer defect " they turned down the repair. Luckily I had a third-party warranty. I will find out if they turn down the repair as well next week . Either way I have to pay them almost 2 grand just for the disassembly. I'm probably going to take my car out of there on a flatbed

Don't pay if your car hasn't been messed with... If it indeed was a rock, then negotiate a repair cost at 40-60% of warranty limits...

It is probably a canned response from BMWNA. The dealers are instructed to look for any damage to the turbos and claim the cause was an outside source. never trust the dealer or BMWNA. I would fight it. My cousin used to make the same shit up and instruct dealers what to say in order to avoid paying out on warranty issues that were part of a litigation. I'm a bit jaded though because I hear a ton of stories from family in the industry and they just laugh about it.
