So I'm sitting at a stop light for maybe 5 seconds when all of a sudden my car shudders a tiny bit, RPM's drop like its going to stall, then resumes normal idle function. That whole sequence of events lasted about 1-2 seconds, my wife didn't even notice. Never happened again and it's never happened before although I've only owned the car for a couple months (has 30k miles). Today it was 90 degrees and I had the air on, wasn't sure if that mattered. Anyway, should I be concerned?

Well if its any comfort I have had the same thing happen.. I just turn the car off and restart it and it always clears up. Mine will run like It has a radical cam in it sometimes when I turn the AC on max at start up..... I wish I could tell you why it does that. Only 50,000 on mine

This happened once with the A/C on I'm pretty sure it's caused by an extra load on the engine and then the ECU realizes what's happening and bumps the idle back up. My previous vehicle did this in a bad way with AC on but the idle wouldn't recover

I was driving mine the other day and this exactly happend!!! I got really scared the a/c was not on and the car and been on for about 3 min hadn't been pushed hard It turned on just fine and drove off when the light turned normally exactly like that! Mine has 67000 miles, should I be worried? I bought the car very recently..

I have a 2009 328 e92 with 34k on the clock and mine did that once every other week and then the service engine soon came on and would turn off after a few days. Took it to united bmw in atlanta and they said it threw no codes. Looked on the receipt and it clearly said it threw a stuck vanos solonoid code. Didnt think much of it because my service advisor assured me that it was just a fluke and it wouldnt happen again. Well i went 800 miles with no problems then on a 550 mile road trip to florida the light came on again. Took the car to bmw of sarasota and they were extremely helpful and were shocked that the other dealer would ignore the problem. They replaced to vanos solonoids with no questions asked under the cpo warranty. Ive gone about a 1000 miles no problem with no problems. (BTW the service advisor in sarasota said the rough idle was caused by the bad solonoid)

The other day I was driving my moms 2011 e93 with 28k on it and the engine did the same thing and idled very rough so lets hope the same thing doesnt happen again..

As long as you dont get any lights you should be ok?

I have a similar rpm stumble from time to time when standing at idle. I did replace my spark plugs, had walnut blast done and it doesn't matter if AC is on or off. It occurs rarely I'm hoping that it is not an injector issue.

3 trips to Tom Williams which is a sonic automotive dealer like Atlanta with the same issue. I had to throw a fit on the sales floor to get them to move on it.

My guess is that a tune should highlight this issue as under stock loads it will probably take a while to surface.

That normally happens to me when one of my ignition coils are about to give.

Happened to me already, my car was making a vacuum noise on start up by the time I got to a stop sign I saw the rpm drops then went up then dropped to 0 and my engine dies. But I turned it on perfectly fine after and my car hasn't done it since.

It didn't throw any codes so I couldn't figure out what it was.
