E92 Audio Upgrade Phase 2 - Install Logic 7 Tweeters

Following on from my original post:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=364359

I today installed the Logic7 tweeters.

Pretty straightforward and took around an hour all in.

I bought my parts from Barons BMW Farnborough who were very helpful. Big thanks to Chris in the parts department there. Barons gave 15% discount on what I bought.

Parts Checklist

1. BMW Logic7 Tweeter (2nr) 65.13.6.964.013

2. BMW Mirror Interior Quadrant Panel (2nr L + R) 51.33.7.184.197 / 198

3. BMW Mirror Interior Quadrant Panel Foam with Tweeter Hole (2nr L + R) 51.33.7.119.173 / 174

Activity list / Guidance Notes

I followed this excellent guide to remove the interior door panel:

http://www.billswebspace.com/e92DoorPanelRemoval.htm

Once the door panel was safely off, it is very easy.

To remove the existing mirror quadrant panel, simply put your fingers behind the upper part, next to the window and pull it forwards, the top will pop out of it's clip and then lift the panel upwards and outwards to remove.

Assemble your new tweeter into it's foam panel and push the foam panel into your new quadrant. Simply plug it into the midrange speaker in the door and then put it all back together again.

Immediately notice sound is much better. We can now hear high hats!

Very poor form from BMW not installing a tweeter in such an expensive car.

I am a little disapointment with the sound quality in the car - good to see your report on what you are doing / have done, thanks.

Apologies for bringing up ths old post.....

I plan on opening my door cards up due to a water leak issue and thought whilst I'm in there I'll upgradr the audio a tad.

As per the OP's post, can I use the cheaper tweeters part no. 65136964012 rather than the logic 7 ones part no. 65136964013?

I only have the pro head unit, 6 speaker no amp setup. I'm no audiophile but I've done a similar upgrade on the 130i I had before and I did notice the improved quality at the high end.

No lectures on audio quality please :P just want to know if this cheaper tweeter will work/fit and still give me 90% of the quality to the logic 7 units.

Thanks,

Also,

Trying to verify the parts for the foam and plastic cutouts as given by the OP and they don't match up on realoem to what I'd expect. Can anyone comment to alleviate my concerns? Maybe quote a link to what parts they used etc?

Well, bought the parts mentioned by the op and it turns out I didn't need:

3. BMW Mirror Interior Quadrant Panel Foam with*Tweeter*Hole (2nr L + R) 51.33.7.119.173 / 174

When i removed my existing covers they already had those inserts within them!! 16 down the swanny....

My car is a 08/2006 build 335d e92.

Lastly, when removing the door cards, get someone to hold it whilst u disconnect the cables etc. I ended up scuffing the edge of one of my door cards

Still a good guide/info op

Top stuff - thinking of doing this too - did you notice any difference? (nothing worse than upgrading and persuading yourself there's a difference somewhere!)

So you just ordred the cheaper xxx12 tweeter rather than xxx13 - what was the price difference?

Presumably the new mirror insert thingies are a standard item, no choices to make in other words? (E92 also)
