orbital or hand for waxing?

Hi Guys,
Which is the better method to wax the car? should i do it with hand or by using an orbital polisher? i don't want to damage or reduce my clear coat, any advice?

Thanks.

Wax doesn't remove clear coat. I hand apply waxes and machine apply sealants.

I hand apply all wax. I've been very nervous about using a machine on my black sapphire metallic paint. Fear of some how screwing it up !
Going to let a pro do a full detail at the end of the summer and I'll watch him and decide if I want to do it myself.

Hand....when I machine wax, if I go a mm too far, I get wax where I don't want it. I have more control with my hand

IF you've done all the prep up front correctly, it's so much nicer to rub your fingers/hand all over your baby's smoooth ass applying a nice coat of wax.

appling the wax by machine (PC or GG DA) will do a much better job and you'll get much better results than if you do it by hand. If you applied a sealant with a DA or Rotary prior to waxing, then waxing by hand will be fine.
Keep the DA at a low speed (2-4) like you're supposed to for waxing and you'll have it all under control and do the hard to reach areas by hand..nothing you don't already know

Insane79,

I have used Griot's Garage products for years and they work as advertised. I have no personal interest in the company, but have used a variety of their products with great success.

Here are the steps I use to wax my car.

Wash car with auto soap.
Dry with microfiber towels.
Clay with Speed Shine and microfiber towels.
Wax with Griot's Garage Premium Carnauba Paste Wax with their Random Orbital.
Buff with microfiber towels.
If you have significant towel marks or fine scratches, you might want to polish before applying wax.

Griot's has plenty of YouTube videos on how to apply wax, polish, claying, etc.
