Helix | Summer Intercooler Group Buy!

Helix Motorsports is delighted to present The Summer Helix FMIC Group Buy.

Once again, we will feature our best price ever, combined with immediate shipping at the end of the group buy. If you've been waiting to get a Helix intercooler, wait no longer.

What makes this FMIC group buy special is the guaranteed quick shipping. In the past, you had to wait up to 10 weeks for your intercooler to ship after the group buy ended. Now, your intercooler ships immediately after the group buy ends.

This is a limited-time offer for the Helix FMIC that will only last for 4 weeks, ending on Friday, July 26th. During these 4 weeks, you have the opportunity to save over $100, plus you don't have to compromise with extended delivery times for a good price.

To reserve your spot on the group buy list, visit the Helix website and add the "Helix Intercooler Group Buy Deposit" to your cart, or just feel free to call us up and we'll take care of you. If you're joining on-line, include your e90post screen name and the year and month of your car's build date (you can find this on the driver's side door jamb) in the additional comments section on the checkout screen.

The non-refundable deposit is $75 and guarantees you an intercooler for the group buy price of $769 for 4/09 and earlier cars, and $869 for 5/09 and later cars. Your $75 deposit goes toward your payment for the intercooler. Shipping and tax for PA residents will be extra. When the group buy ends, Helix will contact you to confirm your payment method and billing/shipping address.

There are only a limited amount of intercoolers in stock for this group buy, so reserve your spot today!

I've had a couple of questions about shipping rates. We charge actual Fedex Ground rates. You pay what we pay.

Garage List
2014 BMW X6  [0.00]
I purchased a Helix IC for my N55 during the last Group Buy from Eric. I would highly recommend picking one up. Excellent, quality product and my car feels a lot stronger after installing it.

And it fits optimally in a M-sport bumper with no cutting?

Also how much more will it be for cold side piping?

No cutting whatsoever. If you want the cold side piping, you can order the post-3/09 kit.

What are the differences between the two kits? I thought the cold side J pipe was only a $50 add-on. Thanks

It's a cold side, bead rolled J Pipe and some hardware. If you have it for $50, let me know, I'll buy some.

To answer some questions, here's more information on the construction and performance of the cooler:

A design feature to our core is the use of half round header bars on the ambient face and in the charge side of the core. These half round bars help to direct airflow with less restriction though the core to the radiator and less pressure drop as the charge air does not have to find its direction into the core nor fight flat surfaces!

End tank Design
All end tanks are not created equal. Air likes to flow in a smooth curved radius and as you can see the Helix FMIC has rounded end tanks that are cast. Another thing you will notice is we opted not to utilize the factory O-ring connectors even though we could have easily implemented them into our design. Our reasoning was simple; the factory connectors are THE flow restriction in the charge side as they shrink down to less than 2 inches in diameter at the inlet and outlet.

STOCK: 2-4 gear

Helix Intercooler: 2-4 gear

Independant AIT test through 2nd-4th gears-Incredible AIT control!

Independent testing and comments on the Helix FMIC:

“I've been testing the Helix FMIC and it keeps IATs within a couple degrees of ambient. Pretty ridiculous. In a good way, of course. And it doesn't block too much of the radiator either. That would be my recommendation.”
Shiv

“I've tested 3 different aftermarket FMICs in my car and the Helix unit performed the best in terms of cooling efficiency and pressure loss. I don't see things getting much better than that to be honest.”
Shiv

“I will attest that this intercooler will help your cars. I have had it on since early winter/last fall and have seen little to no decrease in power with the warmer weather or after repeated hard runs that would have heatsoaked the tiny stock intercooler in no time.”
Sniz

Helix FMIC Install Video:

Install:
Fits in stock location- YES
Requires NO cutting, removal and/or permanent modification- Yes on 335i, No on 135i
**On 135i about 1.5 square inches must be trimmed**
Can it be installed without removing front Bumper- YES
Utilizes factory mounting points- Yes

***Late model N54 and N55 require a custom Helix Charge Pipe to replace the drivers side lower charge pipe***

Design:
More core volume than stock- Yes 56%
More Ambient face than stock- Yes 56%
More charge rows than stock(8)- Yes 13
Bar and Plate construction- Yes
Removes restrictive stock O ring connectors- Yes
Seals to factory radiator fan shroud so air is drawn through when car is not in motion- Yes

Performance:
Helix intercooler at 13.5psi 63 degree ambient temps:
372whp +22whp
turbo outlet temperature 228 degrees F(estimated using a 63 degree ambient and 65% compressor efficiency at 13.5 psi)
AIT temp- 75 degrees F - 54 degree drop over stock
pre and post intercooler temp drop- 153 degrees F
Intercooler efficiency- 93% - 33% improvement in efficiency over stock
Core pressure drop spec is .5psi at 450hp(600cfm) airflow

For a Friday afternoon pot sweetener, we're going one step further! If you get your deposit in by Friday the 19th, we'll pay the shipping within the Continental US. If you are outside the CONUS, give us a call and we'll work out a special deal. That's by a week from today. Those of you who have already paid the deposit, your in.

Shout out for an awesome FMIC . I've had my helix FMIC for over a year now and what a difference it makes, especially in the hot weather.

Just over a week left in this GB. Just to clarify, anybody who is in this group buy gets free shipping, including that first bunch of orders.

Coming up on 2 weeks since the end of this groupbuy and still no word from Helix. Whats going on with this? The first post says shipment immediately at the end of the groupbuy? Its kind of tough sitting here asking for a company to take my money and get no response, sort of frustrating.

I got an email on Tuesday saying that they were experiencing a delay with supplier and the coolers should ship end of this week (that didn't happen) or early next week. I'm waiting till close of business Wednesday then I think I'm going to have to cancel... Like most people I'm sure the draw-card for this was 'immediate' shipping on completion...
