Very good Indie Mechanic in Houston?

Hey,
The X5 is now out of warranty and need some help in locating a reputable indie mechanic here in the Houston area. Specifically around Sugarland. Engine light is on but can't seem to figure out the issue.

Also have you guys heard of a shop called Bemer Plus in Houston? Any comments?

Thanking you in advance.

Can you PM me the details of that shop near the Galleria.

Anyone else know of a good/reputable BMW shop in Houston?

There are a few local vendors we use, at least for E9x owners, depending what you need. I've personally used MPower (http://www.mpowerhouston.com/) and have had nothing but good results in workmanship/quality. Ted is really fast in turning things around. Good luck! I've only tried Key Auto Works for oil changes, by med center.

I'm also looking for something similar but in Midtown, Houston. Just moved here from New Jersey and about to go to Advantage BMW tomorrow to get ripped off potentially.

If anybody knows the moderator Scott Lee on here, could you please ask him to look at this post and message me? 0_o. My new threads entitlements are disabled for some reason... we used to work in the same office and I could just ask for advice directly, but my phone was stolen like 6 months ago and I don't have his phone number anymore...

I'm in SL as well. LMK if you need someone. There's also a shop nearby us who specializes on BMWs, near W. Airport/Eldridge neighborhood. Very dependable and honest.

Also, if you haven't done so, join us on FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/e90post.houston/ . See ya around!

K so my brother 1st took the x5 to the Mpower based on my suggestion and he just told me that though they offered the cheapest price, they seemed totally unprofessional in the way they interacted.

So take from that what you will. He ended up just buying the part online and giving it the dealer to install.

Sorry to hear that. What part did he order? There is also Advance BMW Repair, located up north (Spring) that has a great facility and professionalism you would expect btw. It really differs from everyone's experience and opinion. Hope all was good though for him.

Have to give some love to these guys. Ned and Ted are great guys who really know their stuff. They gave me a quote for $1200 less than what the dealer was asking for some work I had requested so their pricing is very reasonable.

To the person who said they were unprofessional, I will say this: They are a very very busy shop so just keep that in mind. They do quality work and their prices are reasonable. Will go back to them again for future work.

I've been to Mpower and haven't had any issues. That being said, they do get a lot of complaints regarding customer service. Ned & Ted are good mechanics but poor communicators.

If you're on the north side of Houston then check out North Houston Beemer (nhbeemer.com). It's owned by the previous master tech at the woodlands BMW dealership. Good prices & great service. Also they will give you a loaner if requested unlike mpower.
